Chapter one: Prologue

A/N: Okay, so this story is going to be Miam, HOWEVER, there are going to be plenty of Niley moments and it will only become Miam at the very end, so don't hate me for not making this 100% Niley.

Dedicated to: ColourMyWorld, for being such an amazing, emotional, inspirational author, as well as a great person to talk to.

Ever since I was little, my mom always told me the same thing: 'Love is pain'

It's so fucking painful that she even sent me to an all GIRLS elementary and middle school, for crying out loud!

My mom always told me another thing as well – that one day, I'll meet the guy of my dreams.

Which, in all fairness to her, I did.

Though you know what really sucks? When the guy of your dreams doesn't feel the same way.

When he doesn't love you.

Or maybe when she doesn't love you – it's a free country.

My mom never told me what to do in that situation.

It doesn't really help as well, if the 'guy of your dreams' doesn't even know you exist.

Especially if you sit one table down from him in Study Hall.

And sit opposite him in Spanish.

And behind him in Health class.

Well, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, I mean, he did ask me once if I had a spare pencil.

Then again, I don't really blame him for not wanting to fuck me.

After all, he has seen me in Basketball practice. When I've forgotten to shave my legs.

Not to mention he's probably watched that YouTube video of me burping the alphabet.

Besides, he has a girlfriend anyway.

Her name is Selena.

She's Latino and has sparkling, chocolate coloured eyes and glossy, ebony locks.

She actually has a modeling contract with 'Forever 21'.

Plus, she's captain of the cheer squad.

They're 'All-star' cheerleaders, by the way.

What's more, is that she actually does work for charity.

She's practically a saint in Jimmy-choos.

Which means I can't even hate her, because that would be immoral and stuff.

She could have every guy in the school if she wanted to.

So why did she have to choose him?

I already know the answer to that question – what with him being the guy of my dreams etc.

But I wish she hadn't.

Chosen him, I mean.

Because then, maybe I'd have a shot.

Or at least, be able to pretend that I have a shot.

And maybe, just maybe, I might be able to get my happy ending.

That's another thing my mom told me about:

Happy endings.

I guess I should be happy for them – I mean they are pretty much perfect for each other.

And their love child will probably be a goddess.

Also – according to all of those sleazy, budget chick-flicks…

…If you love someone, you should just be happy that they're happy.

That's just a load of crap, though.

Call me selfish, but, why should I want him to be happy?

If he isn't happy with me?
