Dean watched as the kid lead his mother away to the direction of what he assumed was her bedroom. Sam and Jo were sitting on the dark blue couch and arguing about something. He cocked an eyebrow with distant amusement; usually it was he who was arguing with Jo.

He looked around in the room. It wasn't very Christmassy, only things that told of the presence of the holidays were a candelabrum and a couple of decorations that looked like they were something the kid had made in school.

When he came back, the kid offered them some cookies and juice. He couldn't help thinking this kid should live like this; shouldn't grow up like Dean himself had, taking care of others when it should be him who was being taken care of. Children should be children.

Their Christmas sure wasn't glorious, but they had fun- somewhat. By an unanimous and unsaid decision they spend it trying to get the kid whose mother they'd saved, and who had been kind enough to let them spend it under his roof, loosen up a little and be a kid for once. Besides, who was Dean to say no to cartoons and cookies…
