I'll Never Forget
10:48 PM
Hey, are you coming yet?
Yeah yeah, hold on a second, I'm putting on my shoes.
You're going slower than your dad when he's caught some girl's ass in his eye; you're going to miss it.
Quit pushing me, Soul!
My feet pace down the street, flouncing with anger. Why do I even care if I miss it? Who WOULD care?... I bet Soul would care. He could at least stop texting me every second.
Did you leave yet?
Yes, I left.
Are you on your way?
No, I'm heading to the moon for an outer space mission with Excalibur.
That's not even cool in the slightest.
Why would he even care if I miss it?! Black Star and Tsubaki are going. Liz, Patty, and Kid are going once Kid picks out a symmetrical suit. So why does it matter if I go? I'm just another girl...
W-why do you even care if I go?
My phone doesn't ring, but I just keep walking. It's not like anyone will care if I miss it.
10:59 PM
Hello?
Yeah, I'm here.
Are you going to answer my question?
Alright.
Okay, so answer it!
….
Soul!
….
SOUL!
I fall to the ground in pain, scowling at the opposing force in front of me that I had just bumped into. I lift my head to see... "Hey Maka."
"Soul?!" I whisper, not really sure why. "What are you doing here? What about the concert?"
"I wanted to make sure you don't miss it."
"But why?" my voice starts to raise. "Please, just tell me why you care?! I'm nothing special to you, so what does it matter?" He begins to open his mouth, but I continue. "We defeated the Kishin, and now you're the most powerful Death Scythe in the world! All the meisters are asking to use you on their missions; you're never home anymore. I never get to see you anymore." My bangs fall into my eyes, as I pray they hide the small tears. "I don't know what to do ever since you've gone away on that three month trip. You make my days more fun, exciting, and enjoyable. I miss the days when we'd go on missions together, and even the days when we'd fight over what Blair had done to you in bed. Even that annoying bitch of a cat is feeling so lonely. Please, we need you back. I need you back!"
My knees can't take the pressure anymore—I fall to the ground effortlessly as they give in, hands draped over my face, trying not to make a scene.
"Maka..." I look up to see find magnificent red orbs gazing at me. "This tantrum is so uncool." He grabs me by the hand and hoists me up, pulling my lifeless body into an embrace. "You know I'll never forget you. So don't think like that."
I smile into the wet droplets falling on my face as I wrap my arms around his neck, happy to share a moment like this. What even makes me smile wider is what I see from behind Soul's neck in my hands, on a small little screen.
