Authors note: After years of reading fanfiction, I think it's time I publish something on my own. Just something I came up with while on vacation, something I'd imagine these two would do and say on a boring, sleepy, day like I'd had. I tried to characterize them as much I could in the almost 600 words this story is, but you have to start somewhere.
Enjoy my first story.

"Dude." Hilbert yawned as he woke up
"What's up?" Hilda looked over to Hilbert
"I like your hair." He smiled as he said it, trying to complement her was like running a lap around track.
She frowned and, rather snappily, asked "That's it?" she hated when people even mentioned her hair. It was big, in a word.
"It's so soft and, Hilda-y I guess," he gave another one of his grins "you know what I mean?"
"I hate when people talk about or touch my hair." She pouted. "Then why do you let me nap on it dude?" he asked half-jokingly. "Because you're my boyfriend, it's different when you do it," Hilda she said quietly "and stop calling me dude!" This time she shouted.
"But I've always called you dude, since we first met!" He gasped as he falls to the ground, rolling off her bed, clutching his chest as if she pierced it with a Mamoswine's tusk.
"Just don't," she turned away "please." Now Hilbert was getting worried. "What's up, come on, you can tell me." She was quiet for a moment "I, I don't-" she stopped. "Please tell me?" he got closer to her and hugged her: wrapping his arms around her neck, and putting his head on her right shoulder.
"It's dumb."
"I wanna hear anyways."
"It's embarrassing."
"I'll die before I spill your secret, who I'd I tell and why would I?"
She blushed as she confessed "I don't feel girly when you call me dude." He kept quiet for a moment; he knew how sensitive she was about that. Hilbert gave a sigh and said "Aight."
"Huh?" Just like that?
"I'll quit calling you dude, if ya want." He brought her a little closer, "but only if ya really want me to." He pinched her cheeks as he stressed the really part.
She smiled; as best she could give he was pulling her cheeks, and replied "Thanks Hilly"
"Are you gonna stop calling me Hilly, Hildy?" he tried to turn the tables on her
"Nope!" She stuck out her tongue at that. The tables remained unturned "It's cute when I do it."
"I hate it." Only around other people, but he'd never admit it.
"But you love me right?" She put on her best puppy dog face. He sighed at that "Fine."
"Yay!"
"One condition though."
Oh crap. "What is it?" she asked semi-fearful of what he'd ask.
He grinned, much more evil than last time. "I can play with your hair, and no complaining about complements." She glared at him, but he kept up his grin, and laughed at the little pun he made.
He could outlast her, he knew he could.
"Fine" she caved and laid back on her bed "But don't tie my hair in a knot again."
"It was one time!" She'd never let it go, would she?
"It took 4 hours to undo." She couldn't let it go, she had nightmares to the day
"Don't blame me because your ponytail is so big," he yawned at his declaration "screw it I'm going back to sleep." He turned around and lay against her back. She didn't mind.
"Sleep tight Hilbert." She petted him.
"G'night" he yawned
"It's 4 in the afternoon" she responded deadpan
"Night somewhere." She giggled at that "Thanks Hilda."
"For what? Being an awesome girlfriend? Being funny, being-"
"For having such soft hair" finishing the lap in record time
Now it was her turn to grin. "Don't make me punch you."
Authors Note: Any advice or feedback you want to give for my story would be appreciated. I don't intend to be a serious or consistent writer, but I'd enjoy improving my skills and trying to get a few idea's I have written down.
