When he first saw her, she was walking across the grounds of Starfleet Academy. It's hard to miss a Klingon. She was a first year cadet, and he was there attending a seminar on ancient archaeology. They never spoke to one another, but she exuded spunk and brilliance. He did not catch her name, and he never expected to lay eyes upon her again. Years later, when he was in the Maquis, he beheld a face that struck him as familiar. It was her. She spoke, "Are you Chakotay? My name is B'Elanna Torres. I hear you need an engineer.
