I woke up to Alex Fierro's face. She was standing over me, and I screamed. "Watch it, Beantown. You almost hit me." she said (I could tell she was a she today). She waltzed over to my dresser and threw me a blue shirt and jacket. Five seconds later, a pair of jeans followed. "Ugh. All you have is jeans. Let's go. We have to go to the Chase Space." I groaned, and sat up. I had no shirt on.
"Can you wait outside?" I said, not wanting to have Alex watching me change. She left the room skipping, and I got ready. When I got outside, Alex groaned.
"Five godsforsaken minutes Maggie. You have already put us offschedule." An awkwardly quiet trip to the Chase Space followed. Alex dragged me inside, and we were greeted by Blitz and Hearth. Hearth was teaching some kids ASL, so he didn't have time to have a converation, but he waved. Blitzen, however could.
"Magnus, thank the gods. You and Alex can clean Randolph's room. It hasn't been cleaned in days, and I almost died after seeing the dust." he says, handing me and Alex dusters, cleaning spray, and rags. Alex looks delighted, because she has been nagging me about Randolph's room for ages. I haven't gone in since after the Big Banana's voyage. Since I heard his voicd near Naglfar. I haven't told Alex why I have avoided his room, and I might have to tell her. We walk in, and I see the light from the windows pouring in, liking a waterfall. Alex immediatly starts cleaning, and I start dusting the dresser. But I can't get Randolph's voice out of my head. Magnus, it keeps saying. Magnus, Magnus, MagnusMagnus, are you ok?" says Alex. Crap. Am I crying? I honestly can't tell. Alex walks up and cups my face in her hands. She wipes away my tears, and gives me a hug. "You still hear him?" says Alex. I nod into her shoulders.
"It's ok Maggie." says Alex.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you," I say, sobbing, "You wouldn't care anyway." I continue.
Alex stands back, and grips my shoulders. "Wouldn't care? I thought you knew me, Magnus Chase." she says, smiling. She picks up a rag.
"I clean the room if you by our dinner. Falafel. Also, go help Blitzen." she says, pushing me out. I look suprised as she shuts the door. I go help Blitzen cook meals, (falafel. what did you expect) and serve them. Alex emerges 30 minutes later. We walk down to the Fadlan's and get it to go. Amir is at the register, and he asks how Valhalla is. We have a short conversation, and head out with our food. We sit near the statue of Leif Eriksen and his metal bra. Alex looks at me, and says "I still hear the voices too. My abuelo..." she looks away, looking like she's gonna cry to.
"Hey. He cared a lot about you, from what you told me. He probably wouldn't want you to waste your life grieving." I say. Alex nods, and leans on me, her head on my shoulder. We stare at the setting sun, and when the sky is pink, Alex looks at me. I look back.
"What? Do I have falafel on my face?" I said, and Alex smiled, and kissed me.
