As I see him, my heart pounds fast
And my head goes numb.
All my memories of Orlais
Of my life as a Bard
As an assassin
It all washes over me.
I tell him the Maker sent me
That the sound of drums in my head
Compel me to speak:
I'm only half lying.
And I see it in his eyes,
And I hear it in his voice.
He knows the truth.
I thought I was done.
Had put that life behind me.
But oh, how quick it all returns -
The excitement of the kill
The deft and nimble hands
The coy smile, masking devious intent.
I lie: "I'm only a nun"
But the sound of drums...
The sound of drumming
And my pounding heart
Building in tempo
Becoming a cacophony of sound
I tell him the Maker sent me
Because it makes for a nice story
The Bard in me enjoys it...
But he knows I'm lying.
I tell him I'm drawn to him
Because I am
And the drums pound faster
As he asks me to come along.
I swore I'd given up my life as a Bard.
But I don't know
If I can keep my word.
Because I said this all with a coy smile,
Masking devious intent.
Spurred on by the primal drumbeat
Which pounds in my chest.
Obviously this was heavily inspired by "Drumming Song" by Florence and the Machine. I feel like the song goes very well with Leliana. :)
So yeah, just a small (non rhyming) poem detailing Leliana's thoughts upon meeting the Warden in Lothering. Nothing too spectacular.
