Happy You're Here

Nobody saw it coming…the suspect…the gun…the bullet ripping through Tim McGee's shoulder. The house had been empty. Why would the expect someone there?

Tony DiNozzo had been the first to hear it. Screaming his partner's name, he ran outside heart thudding loudly in his ears. He just prayed that the Probie was still alive.

Skidding onto his knees next to Tim, Tony pulled off his NCIS jacket to look at the wound. Tim was already getting pale and shaking, blood oozing from his shoulder in a puddle.

"Stay with me," Tony did his best to stay calm, pressing the wound the best he can. Blood was seeping through his fingers and it made him more scared that Tim was going to die.

Tim looked at the older man, loosely gripping his jacket. "T-Tony…"

"It's okay, Tim. You're going to be okay. Just stay awake for me, can you do that?" Tony watched Ziva rattle off to the dispatcher for 911, hoping that she wasn't giving them a hard time so the paramedics would get here sooner.

Coughing, Tim tightened his fingers around Tony's arms. He closed his eyes. "No no no," Tony begged. "Probie open up, come on. Open your eyes, look at me."

Doing so wearily, Tim looked at Tony hazily. He breathed shallowly, bright green eyes dull and glassy. "Tony…" he spoke hoarsely, "Tone." He reached up slowly and placed his hand on Tony's cheek.

Tearing up a little, Tony put his hand over Tim's. He felt something then. "Talk to me. What do you want to say?"

Tim never got a word out to Tony before he ended up passing out from blood loss.

Within the next two hours, Tony paced in the hospital waiting for Tim to get out of surgery. When the doctor had come out with good news, Tony went into Tim's room, hoping that he would be conscious.

He walked over to the bed, eyes on all the monitors helping Tim heal. He hated hospitals, and seeing any of his co-workers in this state scared him.

Leaning softly over the bed bar, Tony reached over and softly took Tim's hand in his. Timmy opened his eyes at the touch and looked over, his eyes brilliant with green once again.

"You've been crying," Tim sounded tired.

"DiNozzos don't cry," Tony smiled, holding Tim's hand to his chest like it was a lifeline.

Tim smiled a little and curled his fingers around Tony's hand. "You're a terrible liar, Tony."

"Nothing gets past you, Tim," Tony gently ran his thumb over Tim's soft hand. They looked at each other in complete silence for what seemed like hours.

"You saved my life," Tim smiled again. "Thank you."

Tony nodded, eyes tearing up once again. He leaned over and planted a small, soft kiss against Tim's lips, tear running down his cheek. He interlaced their fingers and spoke softly against the young man's lips. "I'm just so happy you're alive, Tim."
