Before he left, he'd promised her, the promise of a lifetime, he said, that he'd bring him back.
Days later, he was back. Severely injured and on the brink of death, but he was back. Naruto was back, without Sasuke.
That day, her world crashed down around her.
She stayed in her room for the rest of the day. Eyes dull and filled with an inmeasurable sadness, she stared at the picture of Team Seven, occasionally tracing the outline of Sasuke's scowling face.
At night, when everyone else was asleep, she gazed up at the night sky. Onyx and dotted with stars, it mirrored his eyes. Unconsciously, her eyes would blur with tears.
She cried herself to sleep that night, clasping the photograph close to her heart.
When she'd woken up, she resolved to become stronger and bring him back with her own power. She went to ask the Fifth Hokage to accept her as an apprentice.
That was in the past now.
3 years later, Sakura was an excellent kunoichi, having learnt all (or almost all) of the Fifth Hokage's skills. Naruto was back from his trip with Jiraiya-sama, another member of the Legendary Sannin. She was now in Team Kakashi, no longer called Team Seven. She hadn't seen the missing piece of Team Seven, the one she loved, for more than three years now.
That was about to change.
She was going on a mission to retrieve Sasuke. She had requested it, once information of Orochimaru's death had reached Konoha. She, Naruto and Kakashi were given the mission immediately. Even if she hadn't been given the mission, she would have gone anyway.
No matter how you treated me, whether you love me or not, I love you, Sasuke-kun, and I can't let you go. She continued to walk on, walking to the gates of Konoha.
She saw Naruto and Kakashi ahead and waved at them, smiling as her pace quickened. As she joined them, Kakashi turned to her and Naruto at his sides. "Are you ready?" he asked both of them.
"Hai, Ka-"she began to say but was interrupted by a certain blonde.
"Sakura-chan, Kakashi-sensei! Hurry up! We have to get the teme back to Konoha!" He shouted, at least a mile ahead.
"Naruto..." Kakashi sighed, shaking his head as he ran faster.
Very soon, Sasuke-kun. She headed after their sensei.
Soon, we'll be together once more...
Author's Note:
Umm... Thanks for reading... and please review if you have the time.
I apologise for any mistakes, spelling or grammar. I could have missed it out since I'm checking all my own fanfics for errors on my own. Do tell me if you happen to spot any.
Sorry if it's a bit short but I can't seem to have the ability to write a long fanfiction. (I suppose it ends like this, but if you want it continued, PM or review and I'll try my best.)
