Everything changed after Johnny died. Especially Dallas.

He still had the cold, mean look in his eyes, he was still the toughest, and tuffest, hood in Tulsa, but he didn't talk much anymore. The only times you could hear him talk now'a days would be if he was threatening someone, or if he absolutely had to. None of the gang dared say a word about it, but we could all tell, Johnny's death hit him hard. One look at him and you could easily see the soft side of him had frozen over, his blue eyes were permanently icy.

The biggest thing I noticed, however, was his ring; the one he always wore on a chain around his neck. He never wore it anymore. I don't think the gang cared enough to notice, but I did. I noticed it at Johnny's funeral, too. His favourite ring had been replaced by a cross. I knew where his ring had gone to, though. Johnnycake was buried with it around his neck. But like I said, nobody really noticed. Nobody took the time to look at Dallas, I mean really look, because if they did they would have noticed the cross around his neck with the initials JC in the center. A constant reminder that Johnny was dead and that whatever god existed; he was a cold and cruel one.
