Prolog
"Do you really have to go Pepi?"
"I'm sorry Madie. If I could I'd stay here with you."
"I'm going to miss you very much," Madeline said reaching up to hug her friend.
"Me too, mi amiga," Pepito said trying to pretend three were not tears in his eyes.
"You won't forget about me while you're away at school will you?" Madeline queried with concern.
"Never, you will always be mi niñita."
"Adieu min ami!" Madeline waved as her friend walked to his chauffeur waiting in the car.
"Adiós Madie!" Pepito waved, turning around to see that Madeline had tears in her eyes.
The children waved to each other for as long as they could, before the other had disappeared into the distance.
When Pepito turned around to face foreword he whipped the tears from his face.
Madeline trudged into the big house covered in vines and into the arms of Ms. Clavel sobbing.
