"Mrs. Maurina can I please see Randelle in the office with her belongings right now,"
"She's writing a test could she come down in 15 minutes?"
"No I'm sorry she has to leave immediately."
"Ok then… Randelle hurry along."
Randelle quickly got up from her desk in the back of the room. She could feel the 30 other sets of eyes staring right back at her. The room was dead silent as everyone watched her grab her bag and all her things. Quickly she looked up seeing everyone still staring at her not caring if it was rude. As she started to move the whisperings started.
"I wonder why she's getting called out to the office."
"You think she's leaving for good?"
"Ugh they're probably going to send her home cause they don't want such a loser for a student here…"
"Maybe her parents finally decided to home school her."
Everyone softly chuckled at her as she finally made her way out the door. To most, what they were saying would bug them but Randelle was use to it. She was always hearing comments like that as she walked around since she was in the second grade. She never understood why she was always picked on. She wore clothes like them, acted like them, if you had never been to the school before you would have thought she was one of the popular girls even. She always figured that it was because they just picked her… they needed someone to bully around and pick on throughout their years of school and decided why not Randelle! She lived in a small town, which meant they always went to the same school so the bullying carried over into High School as well. Randelle knew that she would have to get out of this town to get away from it all. She knew there was no way in her lifetime she would ever be accepted in or outside of school.
As she grabbed everything from her locker quickly she sped to the office. Not thinking about everyone's comments but instead about why on earth she was rushed to the office. Her brother had been having medical problems his whole life. But lately he was doing good. He was walking around, playing sports, what most boys do. It couldn't possibly be because her brother was back in the hospital again. Her brother Chris was her twin brother, because of his medical problems he was home schooled. Randelle wanted to be home schooled as well but sadly her parents said no because they wanted her to experience being an actual teen that Randelle didn't want. But Randelle was scared, scared to admit to her parents what was really going on in school. The only person she would trust with her secrets was her brother Chris. He was Randelle's best and only friend. They both did everything together. Watch movies, play foosball, walk there dog, everything! They were like 2 peas in a pod and when ever Chris went to go to the hospital for a check up Randelle was always right along side with him. She would do anything for him, and he would do the same.
Randelle finally made her way into the office seeing her Grandmother sitting there, eyes puffy, in one of the office chairs waiting. Once she spotted Randelle she quickly got out of the chair and walked over to her. She indicated for her to come along and they both walked out of the office and out the front doors to the parking lot.
"Grandma what's wrong?" Randelle said worried knowing that it wasn't good if there were tears in her eyes.
"Chris took a nasty turn this morning and I just got a phone call from your mom saying for me to bring you to the hospital," she said quickly opening the door to her Sebring and unlocking it for Randelle.
