Chasing Storms

Prologue

"One thing you can't hide - is when you're crippled inside." -John Lennon

Torment.

It was the perfect word to describe the experience of a life enclosed in a vicious and tiresome cycle. Obviously, it set interest on the lower class. Visualize the fright and suspense of a vulture looming above its prey while the prey was neither unable to emit a noise nor hide in the shadows. Oh, how I longed to be the vulture that was starving to feed on its prey. Mercilessly, life opted that I wasted life as a woman, inferior and powerless against all odds until bodies rot, six feet beneath the ground.

A governess taught me French, how to curtsy and to play the keys of a piano because it was essential for a lady. One day, on my death bed, one wouldn't take a step down to memory lane and firstly remember the musical keys of the piano or the skill of a bilingual. Instead, I would desperately yearn for the nostalgic memories able soothing enough as well as be my strength as I brave the afterlife.

The matter of love was not a necessity. It was all about the matter of rank in the social strata. Physical attributes were a lady's strongest weapon followed by her personality. In a strategic and subtle flow, a lady can lure an upper-class man with the position, wealth and name. Then give him a script for your family play. And he will give you one as well.

Ladies of this time were born to be sold off, not loved.

Happiness is as fickle as Love.

I remembered my happiness when I discovered that I acquired one of the most spectacular grades in OWLs. The event fell under the day my mother succumbed to Spanish Flu. I remembered the moment received my Hogwarts letter. A few weeks later, my sister publicized her profound hatred towards my "freakish" nature. I was witch sworn to observe the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. Because of the existence of this law, I was forced to conceal my identity.

To the muggle world, I was Lady Lily Evans, a sweet and charming girl. Lady Lily, third child and second daughter of Lord Dorcester. I was the girl who was set to marry Matthew West.

To some of the most powerful families of the Wizarding World, I was the Lady Lily, the mudblood who was set to marry James Potter.
