A/N: I swear I wrote this before "Unspoken" aired and they talked about boundaries and ECO tweeted about Nicholas Sparks. I promise this was written before all of that! A little missing moment from "Blame it on Rio."

"Come here."

Deeks tugged Kensi into the burn room, leaving DiNozzo to find his way back to the bullpen alone.

"Whoa, hey, we have a guest here, Detective," Kensi said as he closed the door. "Save it for later."

He gripped her arms and looked her over. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah….I'm fine," she raised her eyebrows in curiosity, "Are you okay?"

He pulled her closed and held her tightly, his hand cradling the back of her head, fisting in her hair, as if he couldn't get close enough.

"Deeks, hey," she rubbed his back. "Hey what's going on?"

He let her go but kept his hands on her arms. "I'm so sorry."

"You're—" Kensi frowned in confusion. "For what?"

"I was a jerk today and I left you alone out there. Kens…if we hadn't gotten to you in time..."

"That's what this is about?" Kensi asked. "Deeks I'm fine."

"I know. I know you're fine. But I put you in a position to be not fine because I was too wrapped up in my own garbage to think straight. I should have let you go with Tony."

"Deeks. Stop." Kensi put a hand on his cheek. "We went by the book today. There were three of us out there. Somebody had to go alone. It can't always be you."

"But—"

"No buts," she told him. "You had my back. And we both came home. That's all that matters."

He gazed at her for a moment before capturing her lips with his own. "I love you," he told her when he pulled away.

"I love you too," she replied.

"Kens I—"

The door opened and they sprang apart as Tony stuck his head inside. "Aha! Found you! So this is the secret hidey hole room," he looked around. "In D.C. we just use the elevator. And occasionally the men's room."
"Sounds…unsanitary," Deeks told him.

"Well, beggars can't be choosers. Not all of us live in Stark Tower with all the fancy gadgets. We don't have a…crematorium where I come from."

"It's a burn room," Kensi told him. "For getting rid of classified documents."

"Of course!" Tony snapped his fingers. "That makes much more sense." He looked at the two of them. "Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt your secret partner make-out time. I thought maybe you two had fallen through a secret trap door that Hetty installed for intruders but clearly I was wrong. My apologies."

"Oh we weren't—"

"There was no—"

Both Kensi and Deeks spoke at once as Tony started to back out of the room.

"Guys," he gave them a pointed look. "I became an agent while you two were still going to keggers and failing biology finals. Give me a little credit here." He reached for the door handle. "I'll just wait outside. Carry on."

He stepped into the hall leaving the two of them alone.

"Remember that time we said no personal stuff at work?" Kensi asked.

"Yeah…that was probably a good rule," Deeks said slowly. "Oh well. Too late now."

He pulled her close and kissed her again. "I really am—"

She put a finger over his lips. "I know. You're forgiven." She removed the finger and gave him another peck. "Now let's go entertain our guest."

"Oh I'm already entertained," Tony called loudly from outside the door. "It's like listening to a Nicholas Sparks movie out here. Do you guys ever actually work around this place?"
