Follow the white rabbit
Disclaimers: I don't own anything Castle related, Marlowe, ABC and Co. So no copyright was meant to be breached via this drabble.
Author's Note: I haven't written anything in two years due to major writer's block. So please be kind.
"Aarghh."
Then he blacked out.
When he came around, he shook his head at what he saw.
Was that an elephant? In his bedroom no less.
He knows he's had a bad time with writer's block lately, but he didn't expect to find an actual elephant in his bedroom.
He tried to leave the room but found the door was locked.
"Hmm."
He turned back towards the elephant.
"So um Elephant. Might I ask, what are you doing here?"
"Ah Mr. Castle, you're awake." The elephant peered over the glasses that sat on the tip of his trunk. "I've been told you've been suffering a bit of writer's block lately."
Castle gulped.
"So?"
"Well I've come to tell you, that I'm here to help. I will give you this piece of advice. The day you smell a rat, is the day you should follow the white rabbit."
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"You're a writer, Mr. Castle you'll figure it out." The elephant looked at the clock, raised his trunk then disappeared.
"Elephant? Elephant?"
But the elephant was gone.
Castle frowned and then wondered what did he mean about rats and rabbits? If this was some kind of joke from Gina he was going to kill her regardless what contract they had in place.
Unlike before when he couldn't leave the room, now his door opened freely.
"Mother? Alexis?"
No answer. Looks like they had gone dress shopping for the Derek Storm book launch later in the week.
A cold shower. That should do the trick, rid his mind of elephants, rats and rabbits..
A few days later, he sat at the bar talking to his daughter at the book launch of his latest Derek Storm novel, when someone called his name. It was Detective Kate Beckett, NYPD.
Smell a rat, follow the white rabbit, the elephant had said.
So he did.
FIN.
