The feeling he had felt was, in any yet every sense of the word — astounding.

Kei had always known that he would die, eventually but more than likely soon, due to his ill fortune of being the container for the Holy Lance. He knew that his life held no meaning higher than being used as a weapon, and the moment Aldred had been able to do so by drinking his blood, he found that this fact was only further proven.

However, at the same time, it took him off guard: how the Leader of Team 6 had been able to remain as hopeful as he did to the future.

Al had constantly insisted to him that it paid off to keep your head held up high, without thinking about the now and only, faithfully, believing that their lives' luck would change; that moping around and wallowing in self-pity would do nothing for them to benefit from it.

So, when his new Team-members took him by surprise on the day they were to bake a cake during cooking class, it was lucid Kei had no idea exactly how he was supposed to react to everyone's hospitality the moment they revealed that they had made the cake especially for him.

Furthermore, when he saw the sincerely joyous look his Team Leader wore as they celebrated, he could honestly say that it brought nothing more than joy to the emotional heart he hand once presumed withered and died long ago.

— And nothing made him feel more over-flowingly idyllic than the actions of the ignorantly thoughtful Aldred van Envurio.
