Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Thomas and Bertie's Great Race" from Season 1, with added lines by tate310. Enjoy and comment.

One day, Thomas was waiting at the junction when a bus arrived.
"Hello!" said Thomas, "who are you?"
"I'm Bertie!" tooted the bus.
"I'm Thomas. I run this branch line."
"So you're Thomas! I remember taking your passengers not too long ago when you got stuck in the snow and Terrence the Tractor had to pull you out! I've come to help with your passengers today."
Thomas was cross.
"Help me? I can go faster than you!"
"You can't!" said Bertie.
"I can!" huffed Thomas.
"Then I'll race you." said Bertie.

The drivers soon agreed to the race. The stationmaster raised his green flag in the air.
"Ready, steady, go!" he called.
The race was on!

Thomas couldn't go fast at first, so Bertie raced in front.
"Why don't you go fast, why don't you go fast?!" said Annie and Clarabel.
"Wait and see, wait and see!" hissed Thomas.
"He's way ahead!" wailed the coaches.
But Thomas didn't mind. He remembered the level crossing.
When Thomas arrived at the level crossing, Bertie was fuming. Thomas whooshed through the crossing.
"Goodbye Bertie!" called Thomas.
After that, the rails left the road, so they couldn't see Bertie.

They soon had to stop at the station to let off passengers.
"PEEP PEEP! Get in quickly please!" called Thomas as they set off again.
"Come along, come along!" said Thomas.
"We're coming along, we're coming along!" sang Annie and Clarabel.
As they approached the bridge, they saw Bertie tooting his horn triumphantly.
"Oh dear, oh dear!" groaned Thomas.
"Steady now Thomas!" called the driver. "We'll soon beat Bertie."
"We'll do it, we'll do it!" replied Thomas.
They soon had to stop at another station. Once again, they saw Bertie.
"Goodbye Thomas! You must be tired. Sorry I can't stop, we buses have to work!"

"Oh dear!" thought Thomas. "We've lost!"

But he felt better after a drink. The signal dropped and soon Thomas was off.

As they crossed the bridge, they saw Bertie up above, waiting for the traffic line to turn green.

When the light turned green, Bertie zoomed off and started to chase Thomas again.

Now Thomas reached his full speed. Bertie tried his hardest, but Thomas was too fast for him.

"We've done it, we've done it!" panted Thomas.

"You did it hooray, you did it hooray!" chanted Annie and Clarabel as they whooshed into the last station.

Everyone was there to celebrate Thomas's victory, but they gave Bertie a big welcome too.

"Well done Thomas!" said Bertie. "That was fun, but I was to win, I would have to get wings and fly like a airplane!"

Nowadays, Thomas and Bertie keep each other very busy, often talking about their race, but Bertie's passengers don't like being bounced like peas on a frying pan, and Sir Topham Hatt warned Thomas not to race at dangerous speeds.

But between you and me, secretly they want to have another race. I don't think they will, do you?"
