Prologue- Poisonous Cherry Blossom
Today is February 20th, the anniversary of my big brother's twentieth birthday. It is also the night of a full moon this month. As I left the restaurant where I work at, I bought a bouquet of peach blossoms, a bottle of sakè, and two traditional tea cups for my visit to my older brother. He was very dear to me and was my world. I never knew of my parents since both of them had died before I was conscious of anything at all. My first memory was of my ani smiling down at me while covered in bruises and cuts. It seemed like we were on the run from something or someone and that he has been protecting me from it ever since. He died protecting me as well. When I was ten and he was fifteen, the hunters came to our apartment to kill the both of us. My brother hid me underneath the floorboards while he confronted the men. He told me not to move, no matter what. The men were invited into our apartment and ten minutes later, shot my brother dead. They then ransacked the apartment to find me. After what seemed like an eternity, they gave up and left our apartment, my dead brother, and me. It wasn't until 5 AM when I crawled out and cried for my ani.
After weeping all over the place, I tried amending everything by taking revenge. I learned every type of martial arts I could find and mastered them all in about a month. I also mastered every weapon I could find and get my hands on which is about every one since my friend collects them for a hobby. After learning everything I could, I then searched for my brother's killers. It wasn't that hard to find I just had to follow the trail of crimes fitting the men's descriptions. They lived in a rundown apartment-how fitting. The entire ordeal only lasted for about half an hour. By then, they were all dead and the rundown building was lit on fire. I watched the building and evidence collapse in front of my eyes-it was refreshing, I dare say. As I turned around to start walking back home, I discovered a man standing in front of me with a smirk on his face. The two of us stared at one another for what seemed like a long time until he broke the silence with an innocent-looking face.
"Would you care to talk with me over some sakè?"
"No thank you,' I replied and started to walk away.
"I have an offer for you which you cannot refuse."
THAT had caught my attention. "What do you want?"
The man's name was Eriol Hiiragizawa, one of the millionaires and boss of the most famous and wealthy business company in Japan. He was also the boss of the underworld. He offered me a deal that would have tremendous pay. Of course I accepted it. And since that day on, Hiiragizawa-sama became my boss and I make at least $200,000 of pay per week. I still go to school and work at the restaurant. The deal I made was only to be done on nights and had to be done in secrecy. I've been working for the "corporation" for about five years now. And I find my job refreshing and quite thrilling.
The full moon cast its heavenly glow across the Tokyo graveyard. There, I walked up to a tombstone engraved with the name Touya Kinomoto. "Hi ani," I greeted as I set the flowers down in front of his grave. I then poured two cups of sakè for him and me and told him of my days. The entire night, I laughed and got drunk with my brother underneath the full moon's light. My name is Sakura Kinomoto and I am a fifteen-year-old assassin.
