"We should get married." They were losing the war.

Her eyes widened. "what?"

Sasuke keeps staring at the destruction before him. They were sitting on the front porch of what used to be a house. He found a picture of the inhabitants of it. They had two daughters. Of course they didn't find the bodies as the bombing happened days ago and the bodies were probably taken away. If not, they were too deep inside the rubble for only two people to get them out.

They were a family. A happy family with hopes and dreams and shit. But now shit happened and the table's have turned and they were losing the war and General Orochimaru's troops were invading everywhere at the time they least expected it.

"No rebel's life will be spared," The dictator declared a few days ago in the radio. "all of them will be killed on sight. We will not stop until all of them are disposed of," Sasuke's brows furrowed at his last words. "I will make everyone who sides with me pure. Pure of any fault."

.

"I said, we," Sasuke sighed. "should probably get married." Orochimaru's dictatorship already took over Suna and Ame. Sasuke knows because they fled from there a few weeks back. They were hiding in a small town-or what's left of it- situated between the Fire and Wind's border. The remaining town's people were either not aware of them being rebels or were just overlooking the fact. They needed to move again by dawn.

"Why?" she asked, her voice now dull and with no hope. Naruto distracted the troops to let Sakura escape. They saw the soldiers open firing at him without a thought and moving forward again. So they ran, leaving Naruto. They never came back, Sasuke didn't let her come back for his body. Naruto never had a funeral.

"We're in the middle of the war. We might die. I-" Sasuke hesitated. "I love you and you love me and I love having sex with you." He knows Sakura raised a brow at him at that. "I never regretted a moment with you, even though I met you in a shitty camp during this shit. And I had planned to ask you out after this shit. But Hashirama's," At this, Sakura corrected him saying, 'General Hashirama'. "-dead and we're losing and we don't have the time to date and…." he trailed. "and we should probably get married."

He paused a moment then started again, "It makes me a selfish man, but.. if I die knowing that I made those shitty vows with you, 'Till death do us part' and all. Then I would die happy."

He heard Sakura laugh from behind from the cracked stair she sat on.

"What?" He turned his head a bit look at her from the corner of his eyes.

"Nothing. wow. um," Sakura replied, still laughing. It's been a while since he saw her laugh. "never thought you were capable of talking so much, Sasuke." Sasuke merely grunted in reply.

There was a few moments of silence between them. Sakura said nothing, and by the look in her eyes he could tell she was thinking about a different future with him, in which they won the war and Hashirama didn't get betrayed by Danzou.

"So?" he asked.

"So?" Sakura mimicked him.

"Sakura."

"Well." Sakura huffed. " you didn't exactly ask me now,did you?"

Sasuke grinned at that. "Sakura." now fully turning towards her. "will you marry me?"

"Let me think about it." she said, testing him.

"Alright." he replied, his grin not faltering.

Satisfied with his answer, Sakura stood up and sat beside him. "Yeah," she stared at him. "yeah I'll marry you."
