DISCLAIMER: I don't own Merlin, BBC does.

A/N: Just a little one shot story that I had to write for my English class. I thought it would be a cute Merthur friendship fic. The story takes place now, rather than when the show takes place. Tell me what you think of it. Thanks!

Corn Maze

"See! I told you we need to go this way," Arthur shouted as we turned another corner, just to realize that we had just made a huge loop.

"Just because you think you know what you're doing doesn't mean that you actually do," I shouted right back.

"You are so stubborn! I'm going this way!"

"Fine, be that way," I shouted as I headed down the same path we had just taken, fully aware that Arthur had already run down the other one. However, instead of heading right at the next corner like I had before, I turned left. The next thing I knew I was at a fork in the road that had three paths to take. I sighed and looked around at the pitch black night sky with my flashlight, then at the eight foot corn stalks that created a solid barrier between me and the exit of the huge maze. The smell of damp corn husks from this morning's rain was overwhelming. I knew what I had to do, I just didn't want to. I closed my eyes and concentrated on the three paths on front of me. When I opened them up again I was mentally being dragged down the right path to the next fork in the road. Then the real world came into view again and I could feel my eyes returning from the mysterious gold color to their normal, piercingly sharp blue. As I headed down the path I turned around for a second to see if anyone had seen the peculiar sequence of events that had just happened.

At the next turn I sped up a bit as I tried to calm myself down from hearing the screeching of some kind of owl in the distance. Just as I slowed down I heard Arthur calling my name somewhere close by.

"Arthur," I called back. "Arthur, where are you?"

"Over hear. Follow my voice."

I did as he said, rounding two more corners before seeing him again.

"I'm sorry," I said. "I didn't mean to yell at you, it's just that I really want to get out of here."

"I understand. I'm sorry to. Now let's move."

"Follow me," I recommended, wondering if the guy with too much ego and pride for his own sake would even comply.

"Whatever," he drawled after a minute, reluctantly taking my help.

As I led us down the path toward the exit, I occasionally averted my eyes from Arthur's limited range of sight in this treacherous darkness. The golden sighted magic coursed through my mind, leading me out of the corn maze at last. When we finally escaped I stood there awkwardly wondering if Arthur was going to punch me from leading him out, not leading him out sooner, or yelling at him. Instead he completely surprised me by saying he was sorry. Let me just document this for future blackmail. It went something like this:

"Sorry," Arthur whispered. "And I know you heard me so don't you dare make me say it again you idiot."

"I wasn't going to ask you to repeat anything clot-pole." I so was, I thought smugly.
