Disclaimer: Blah, you all know the drill.

On the last night aboard the Dauntless, with Port Royal in sight, James realised Jack was an idiot.

It was one thing to spend ten years – ten whole years, chasing after a bloody ship. To top it all off, the dumb bastard willingly got himself tangled up with undead pirates and Aztec curses and all sorts of really appalling matters. But that wasn't so much idiocy as it was stupidity and insanity.

It was, however, another thing to spend every day – every fucking day hiding behind a mask, behind a persona, behind a bumbling, flamboyant fool like Captain Jack Sparrow.

James despised Captain Jack Sparrow.

(But he knew Jack was a good man, a brilliant and amazing man even. An idiot, no doubt, but nonetheless worth his respect.)

(Because he suspected (knew, bloody hell) that Jack wasn't exactly fond of the Captain either.)

James shrugged it off. Besides, Captain Jack Sparrow would hang tomorrow, and good riddance to the rogue.

After all, it wasn't as if Jack was the person he loved and had gone through all the trouble to rescue.

Elizabeth was.

Re-uploaded due to formatting problems. This website pisses me off sometimes. If it's still boring with single line breaks between each sentence instead of double line breaks between some of them, do forgive me. I gave up on trying to fix it.

Seeing as this is more of an experimental thing, I've left it extremely open to interpretation. Maybe this is a character piece for Jack, through James' POV. Maybe it's Sparrington. When did James realise Jack wasn't just some stupid drunk who swayed and slurred his way out of trouble? Did these thoughts (especially seeing as he loved Elizabeth, who in turn supported Jack) affect his later decisions and leniency? My interpretation might not be yours, see. Hope it was enjoyable enough, and not a confusing rambling mess.

Constructive criticism is welcomed. Come and tell me if it sucked if you want, but be sure to suggest how to make it better. Cheers.
