When Tom came home from an extra long day at work, he had expected plenty of hugs and kisses from his daughter and wife, and perhaps a long night's rest. Instead, he ended up with snot. Little Sybbie had been battling quite the cold the past week, but on this particular day, she seemed quite well.
Her mother, on the other hand, was not so lucky.
"Hello darling," Tom greeted with a smile and a kiss to the top of her head.
"Hebbo Thom."
Tom stifled a laugh, sitting down beside Sybil on their couch. "Oh love, you too?" Sybil simply nodded, her bottom lip stuck out in a bit of a pout. Tom wrapped his arms around her and she snuggled up against him. "Why don't we see if your ma would mind taking Sybbie so we can get you well?" After a few moments without a response, Tom frowned and looked down at his wife...who was now sound asleep.
Tom glanced up at his daughter and smiled. Sybbie was curled up in an adjacent armchair, giggling at her parents. "I don't suppose you'll give your da a break?"
She answered with a sneeze.
