AN: This is a measly drabble spurred by the recent "Occupy" protests. Let's get one thing straight, I'm not a huge fan of them, so if you don't like people having different opinions, don't read this and continue living in oblivion. I am sorry that for my first Hetalia fic I put up a rant, but this is something I feel should be addressed. These are the thoughts of a woman who has loved her country for damn near twenty years so be warned.

Disclaimer: I do not own Hetalia or America, though I love them both dearly.

It hurt. That was the only way he could describe it. Their marching and screaming and complaining hurt. They were blaming his people, his children, HIM! But why? Because of the unemployment? That is his boss's fault. Because of the economy? His inability to deny a person a loan they can't pay off…and yet, these people don't blame that. They blame the wealthy. The people who worked their asses off to get where they are today! He would much prefer they blame him and leave…maybe go to Europe where that self-loathing was acceptable, where it was okay to blame everyone but yourself.

And yet why was it okay now? In America?

Alfred put his head in his hands and took a deep shuddering breath, his heart aching with each footstep stomped on Freedom Plaza. What ever happened to individualism in this nation? Whatever happened to responsibility? What ever happened to the American Dream? What ever happened to life, liberty, and the PURSUIT of happiness!

It died…they all…died…

Here were the true hypocrites the entire time. Here they are out in the open. Here they are pretending to be the true voice of America, by strangling the one he truly has. Here are the children who believe that success should be punished. Here are the parasites who sit at home leeching off his bleeding heart and the lives of the "fortunate." Here are the spoiled brats who protest the very wealth that brought them all of those iPods and cell phones and Apple products they brought with them to talk to the parents who WORKED to put them through college and buy those gifts for them. Here is the cancer that has struck this once great nation. He is no longer independent…he is no longer free…

He is a slave to the slaves to Federalism.

He is helpless to those who aren't truly helpless but have been told they are.

He was lied to…they were lied to…we were lied to…

And now…he's dying…

His heart, his soul, his very core; his Constitution is nothing but a slip of ratty old paper…withering away…

Just like him…
