Cain looked at the sleeping girl with pity in his eyes. She had suffered more in these past days than anyone should truly bear. Not only was she coping with the realization that she was the cause of her sister's wickedness, or really the reason why her sister had been taken over by a wicked witch, but she also blamed herself for every misery that had been inflicted on her friends because of Azkedelia.
Nights were the worst though, because the front of bravery she used to hide her pain fell away.
DG fitfully rolled over in her sleep as several tears rolled down her cheek. Glitch walked silently over to her, a look of concern on his face. He crouched down and brushed a few dark curls away from her face.
"Poor thing" he murmured.
"Don't wake her up Glitch. Toto says she sees most of her memories in her sleep." Cain said sternly.
Raw walked up next to Glitch and placed one finger on DG's forehead. "She misses her family" Raw interpreted.
Now Cain came to join them. "It hurts. It always does, when you've lost someone," he said quietly.
Neither of them spoke anymore, but they watched DG dream the rest of the night. When she twitched violently of began to cry again, they would each touch her hand or her arm. Just to protect her, to let her know that she wasn't alone.
Slowly DG stopped shaking. An almost indiscernible smile formed on her lips. She might have lost her old family, but along the way, she had acquired a new one.
