Lily was a virgin. A fact clearly not lost on James at the moment. To put it simply he was freaking out. He was more nervous than she was and he was most certainly not a virgin.
"Are you sure you're okay with this? I don't want to hurt you. But seriously—are you-"
"James. Yes. I am sure. Now will you please calm down? I love you and I am sure this is what I want."
Lily did truly love him and knew he loved her back. This wasn't something either of them rushed. They had been dating a little over a year and he did not want to push her and she was grateful for that, but now that she actually was ready, he was afraid to believe her. Lily sat up, rested her back against the headboard of the bed and looked down at James who currently was lying down with his hands covering his face. She pried his hands away and held them in her own.
"James look at me," He sighed and looked up at her, but found it hard to meet her eyes. "You know I love you right?"
"Yes, but-"
"James seriously. I love you. I don't want to be with anyone else. I trust you. Now you know I have thought about this. Frankly, I have thought about this for quite a while now, so there is no logical way that you can think that I—that we are rushing this."
She bent over and placed a soft kiss on his lips.
"I love you too, Lily."
She smiled. "I know." And somehow, even after all the time he had known Lily, her smile still made his heart skip a beat.
