Quiet

Prompt: Quiet- Demi Lovato

Emily was sitting in the bullpen. It was late and not many people were in the office. It felt weird because it was only Reid and Emily. They sat there working in silence. Emily felt very awkward because no one was saying anything. She really liked Reid. She had feelings for him since the first day she joined the B.A.U. She could see in his face that he wanted to say something to her. She was very eager to hear it, but she didn't want to break the silence, even though it was uncomfortable.

I hear a word you're not saying.
It's driving me crazy.
It's like we've stopped breathing in this room.
We're both the last to be leaving
I know what you're thinking.

Emily felt awkward and anxious. She could already tell that something was bothering Reid. She wanted him to speak, to break the silence, and make her smile. She knew he was contemplating his feelings. She hoped what he was thinking about was her.

I wish you'd make your move.
It's much too quiet in here.
I want to disappear.
I'm hearing myself thinking too clear.

Emily couldn't stop thinking about Reid. She tried to work, but her mind kept trailing off. She would occasionally look up at him. Whenever she saw Reid look up, she would quickly look back to her file, hoping he didn't notice. Being alone made the silence even more awkward.

It's much too quiet in here.
Make it go away.
Why can't we break this silence, finally?

Emily wished they could do anything but sit in complete silence. Every second that went by, she hoped that Reid would say something, but after each second passed, he never said a word. He kept the confused look on his face. She felt like he knew it was uncomfortable for her. She though that maybe he liked to see her anxious and curious.

It's like you know where I'm going.
You follow me home, but I never invite you inside.

I see what you're not showing.
I've got you alone, but the air is so still it's weird.

Reid sat at his desk. He saw that it was only he and Emily in the bullpen. He wanted to say something to her, but he didn't know how she would react and how he could phrase it. He was completely confused. All he could think about was the silence in the room. The only noise heard was an occasional turn of a page from a file.

It's much too quiet in here.
I want to disappear.
I'm hearing myself thinking too clear.
It's too quiet in here.
Make it go away.
Why can't we break this silence, finally?

Reid wanted to say what he was thinking. He looked up at Emily and saw she was deep in thought. Soon, she came out of her thoughts. She went back to reading her file. Every once in a while, she would look up at him. He couldn't help but smile when he looked up and saw her quickly turn away.

Don't talk, don't stop telling me goodnight.
Just promise you'll kiss me goodbye.
What's taking so long?
Don't tell me you're not going to try.
The tensions building in my mind.
I want to scream and I know why.

Reid couldn't take it anymore. He was getting restless and he saw that Emily was, too. He stood up and walked over to her desk.

It's much too quit in here.
I want to disappear.
I'm hearing myself thinking too clear.
It's too quiet in here.
Make it go away.
Why can't we break this silence, finally?
It's too quiet in here.

Reid pulled Emily out of her seat and spun her around. Her eyes widened and then she realized that he was kissing her. He was soon aware that she was kissing him back. When they pulled back, Reid pulled her into a hug. He whispered, "I love you, Emily Prentiss." in her ear.
