Children are laughing, having fun in the warm summer air. A nice breeze flows through your long black hair. You sit apart from all the others, just watching and wishing. Wishing you could be like all the other children. Wishing you didn't have this curse that caused you to see visions of future events. Wishing that you weren't such a disgrace to your family.
You suddenly look up to your front room window and see the white curtain flutter. You know your mother was just there watching you, crying for you…for her. You slowly turn back to watching the other children playing. A kite catches your eye. The way it looks as it flows in the wind helps your mind zone out. For this short time at least you no longer have to worry about ridicule, judgment or frightened staring eyes. It's the staring eyes that really get to you. Why must stranger always be probing you with their gaze? Why can't they just mind their own business? Perhaps they stair because it is a rare occasion that you venture outside the comfort of your house.
Unlike others with a reputation, you don't hate the curious onlookers, but you pity them. You pity them because they don't know how to accept those who are different. You pity them because they can't accept anything outside of their definition of normal. You also pity them due to their lack of compassion.
A few times people would come to you in private to ask if you saw any major dangers in store for the town of their own selves. Though of course if you asked, each person would deny it. No one wants to admit that they go to a psychotic, demon filled child for answers. In fact if you asked the towns people what should be done with you each would reply along the lines of 'prayer and salvation from God', 'burn in Hell from whence she came', 'professional help one would fine in an insane asylum', and the all famous 'all witches must burn for their blasphemy!'.
That's when you notice the uncontrollable feeling that encompasses your entire body. OH no…no no no...please no! Your mind cries out frantically. Another vision is going to fill your vision and mind. You start breathing hard and your eyes tear up. Darkness. Complete darkness fills the duration of your vision. And then an Earth shattering scream that send chills straight to your bones reverberates in your skull.
You suddenly realize you're screaming outside your vision. All the children stop their games and watch you. Your father runs out the door and doesn't stop until you are in his arms. "It's alright, darlin', it's alright. You're safe now. Papas here, you're safe now. Shhh." Your body stays tense until you finally fall into a deep sleep in the safety and warmth of your father's arms. The last words you hear before slipping into dreamland come from your father. "You're going to be just fine, darlin'. We're going to get you the help you need now. There's nothing to fear." These words were mixed with the loud sound of an automobile.
You awaken to complete darkness. Your heart is racing, your eyes tear up. A scream so powerful that you instantly taste blood from your shredded throat escapes you.
The vision you dreaded most has come true.
