Maura looked on at Jane in confusion. "What did you say?" "I said, Casey's going back to Afghanistan, unless I marry him." Jane said with a pity tone. Maura tugged Jane's arm and pulled her outside the home they have placed Patrick Doyle Senior in. "Did you say yes?" Maura said with a quiet tone, looking into Jane's eyes with hurt in hers. "I.. I didn't give him an answer yet. I told him I needed to think about it." Jane broke the eye contact with Maura, because it hurt her to see her best friend hurt infront of her. "Can I give you a suggestion? Don't marry him." Maura said with a harsh tone that got Jane to look back at her. "Why, Maur. Why shouldn't I?" "Because. Look at yourself. This isn't the Jane Rizzoli I became friends with. This isn't the Jane Rizzoli who loves her job more than anything in the world. No one can change how you feel about your work. You're married to your work." Maura shook her head. "And also, Casey is using you. He's asking you to marry him or have him go back overseas. Does that seem fair, Jane? Does it seem fair for you to have this whole decision riding on your back to see if he goes back to Afghanistan?"
Maura took a breath, blinked her eyes to hold back tears. She wanted to be happy for her friend. But she couldn't be. She couldn't see her best friend, her co-worker, go off and marry the wrong person for her. "Jane. Look at me. Do you honestly feel happy with him?" Jane looked at Maura, and directed her focus into Maura's eyes. Jane saw the tears Maura tried so hard to hide. The tears Maura tired so hard to fight back. Jane closed her eyes and thought. Am I really happy with him? Jane thought for a minute, and opened her eyes again. "No. I'm not happy with him." "Then why, Jane? Why do this to yourself?" Maura wanted to cry. Maura felt a pain, an emotion she never felt before. She felt truly heartbroken by Jane even thinking of marring Casey. She thought, and quietly said to her best friend, "I love you, Jane. Not in a friendship way. In the way I can't see you marring him. I.." She paused for a second. "I don't want to see anyone else with you. I want you for myself."
Maura looked up at Jane. The little height difference they had made an impact right about now. Jane did something she rarely did to people, she hugged Maura. Hugging doesn't come easy to Jane. Why would it? She had no reason to hug others. Maura felt the warmth and strength for the hug. Jane pulled them behind the building, in view of no one. Maura pulled herself closer to Jane, and started to cry. Jane rested her head on the shoulder of the crying woman who just confessed her love to Jane. "Maura. Please stop crying. Please." Jane soften up only to Maura. "I'm sorry Jane. I'm so sorry. I let my personal feelings get in the way of your choice to marry Casey." Maura talked into Jane's shoulder. "Stop, Maur. Please stop. I was going to say no. I don't want to settle down and get married to him. I know he was emotional blackmailing me. I'm not intelligent, remember?"
Jane picked up her head and pulled Maura's head up with her hand. Maura blinked away the rest of her tears. "I love you, Jane." Maura wrapped her arms around Jane's neck. "I love you too, Maura. Don't worry. I won't marry anyone." Jane put her hands on Maura's waist and pulled her into for a kiss. "Besides me, right?" Maura joked, not waiting a response. "Only if you wanted."
