Spain sighed lightly to himself. Why had he agreed to do this? Did his friends really think stupid pick-up lines were the way to Romano's heart?

Dios mio, at this point I'm desperate enough to try. He thought. He stopped for a second, trying to remember the first line he wanted to try. Oh, right...now where's Lovi?

Romano was out for one of his usual walks. He liked to take one after his siestas so that he could wake himself up. At the moment, he was walking near the park. The slight breeze felt nice on his skin.

Spain looked up and noticed the Italian was nearby. He took the camera he had borrowed from France out of his pocket and walked over to the smaller man. "Hola, Lovi."

The Southern Italian looked up at the sound of Spain's voice. "Ciao, tomato bastard!" He grumbled.

The Spaniard smiled lightly and held up his camera. "Do you mind if I take your picture?"

Lovino gave a suspicious look to the Spaniard. "Sure...Go ahead..." What the crapolla is Spain up to?

Spain was a bit surprised, but managed not to let it show; he had expected Romano to ask why. That was how this line was supposed to work.

Roma waited for Spain to take the picture. "What's the hold-up tomato bastard? Why do you want a picture, anyway?" Needless to say, he was a bit curious.

Spain took the picture and chuckled. Good, it had worked out after all. "This year, I wanted to show Finland exactly what I want for Christmas." He chirped.

Romano groaned internally. He should have figured it would be a dumb pick-up line. "Tomato bastard, no. Pick-up lines are not your thing. But...good try anyway." The little Italian then sped off slightly blushing.

The Spaniard sighed as Romano ran off.

Attempt number one was a failure...but maybe not a complete one. I'll just have to find a new one... He thought, smiling to himself as his boundless optimism lifted his mood. He would find the one that would work soon enough.
