Introduction

My name is Matt. Matt Hefflington. I am 14 years old, and I live a life full of unwanted happenings and events. I only have one friend at school, and I live alone with my mom Martha. My dad died 2 years ago from a car crash. Ever since that day, my life has been spiraling downhill. I hope for it to get better day by day, but it seems it can't.

Mrs. Dorly was teaching her math class. Math was my homeroom. I loved math. I succeeded in her class the most. She was a good teacher. I never want her class to end.

"RING!" the bell rang. I didn't want to leave, but I had to. Behind me was the kid I hated most, Brent Gerich. He was like the most popular kid in school. He got all of the girls and had lots of friends. But he had some serious anger issues. He can go completely off over the most stupid things. But for the most part, I wish I can be like him. I always looked up to him for advice. Well, I USED to look up to him.

When my dad died, I came into school crying. Brent was with his group of friends. In the group was his best friend, Howard Johnson. Also with him was the girl I liked most, Kristy Vorin. He looked at me, and said in a kiddy voice "Awww! Why are you crying?" I replied to him saying that my dad had died. He laughed and said" Aw! Look! Daddy's boy! What a crybaby! Ha!" Everyone laughed at me. It was horrible.

I hated where my locker was. To my left, there was Frank Polek's locker. He was one of the most annoying kids ever. He talked so loud and always got our class in trouble. However, to my right was a girl. Her name was Cecilia Norgutt. Her nickname was "The Norgutt Nugget." I felt bad for her. But she was popular. It didn't matter.

Then there is Brent's younger brother, Justin Gerich. He was nice. I felt like he was my only friend. My friend that wasn't my friend. The only thing that was bad about him was that he can get a little out of hand sometimes and to things he isn't supposed to do.

My next class was gym. In the crowd of people, I saw Ted. Ted was my one and only friend. He had two brothers; Benson and Rover. They were all born near the same time. Ted's mom Debra was pregnant with them all at once, but they all came out one by one. Ted was the youngest, and Rover was the oldest. "What's up Matt?" he said.

"Nothing much."

"Ready for gym?"

"Not really."

"Well I am."

I always dreaded gym. I was the only kid who didn't talk to anyone and I always did badly on my team. Everyone never would want me on their team because I would always lose and let the team down.
