Story

Soran breathed deeply. His situation was becoming more difficult. She had been at the embassy today visiting him. Seeing her had tried his control and stirred his ancient, primal blood. Oh Amanda! how could she tempt him so? Her blue eyes sparkled when she had laughed at his joke and her compassion for his sick mother had pushed the boundries of his control. She should be his! She was his mate!

Soran breathed deeply again, suppressing the ancient anger, staying here was becoming dangerous but his plans were not complete. He needed more time. Inwardly he checked his controls and suppressed the growing flames at the back of his mind. The Pon Farr was gaining strength, he estimated that he had only a few more months before the Plak Tow took him. He shivered. He knew that the most logical thing was to return to Vulcan and meet his bondmate T'Sara at the appointed place, but he was hesitant. He and T'Sara had a very minimal bond and cared very little for each other. T'Sara was a reluctant mate. She cared little for him and he feared that she would choose the ancient challenge. His blood ran cold.

Not that it truly mattered- Soran did not want her; this cold logical mate. He wanted warmth and compassion, he wanted the clear blue eyes that sparkled. He wanted his Amanda! Soran shook himself, she was not his Amanda. She was Sareks. He could not claim her, Sarek was his friend and Amanda loved him deeply. Soran could not bring himself to hurt either of them but neither could he disgrace his family by making the claim and nor would he willingly walk to his execution. There was only one logical alternative:he must leave.

He must forever leave Earth, Vulacan and his family behind. He must allow the fires to take him. He doubted whether T'Sara would mind a great deal: the bond between them had been a great burden to her and with him gone she could complete her desire of studying at Gol. Yes, his was a most logical solution to his situation. He would leave for the darkness of Space and let the curse of Vulcan to consume him. He must speed up his arrangments: his replacement had yet to be found but that could be arranged quickly. Once it was found out what he had done he had no doubt that T'Pau would be logical in her next choice for an assistant to the Ambassador: perhaps one that was already bonded. He must resolve his affairs quickly and leave Earth whilst his controls were still relatively intact. He estimated it should take two more months before everything else was in order.

Summoning his controls Soran allowed himself one last feeling of longing before suppressing his emotions and stopping the flames. Leaving his mediations he walked quickly towards his office.

There was a great deal to do.
