The Doctor burst through the door onto the roof of the building in which he had seen some of the worst things he could of imagined, and he had imagined a lot in his life-span. So much blood-shed...and for what? The sake of blood-shed? He had know that his old friend was a mere shell of how he used to be, but this was a complete contrast from the happy boy he used to know. As he breathed in the fresh air on the roof, his mind quickly recapped the events of the last hour.
The trap...the signal for help...and then...the explosion...the screams for help...the screams of pain...him...and a gun...why?
Tears burned behind his eyes and he didn't try to hold them back. They ran down his face and he couldn't stop them. Like he couldn't stop him. And now, several floors below, were they dead, lifeless bodies of his friends. Donna, who used to be so full of life, was now life-less and pale. Martha, who in a rush to try to help and heal got caught in the path of a bullet meant for him. Jack had tried to stop him, but something had happened to him. Something odd. And now Jack was frozen in time at the point of his death, unable to heal or to escape. And Rose...Rose was trapped in the rubble of the first explosion. And he had dragged them all into this.
A laugh pierced the air from behind him. He span around, the tears still flowing, and looked at him. The Master. In one of his hands was the thing that had caused so much pain, a simple gun. And in the other, a Laser Screwdriver. The Master grinned as he aimed the gun towards The Doctor, aiming for a direct kill. The Doctor froze and looked at the gun.
"So, is this it? Is this how it's going to end?"
The Master laughed again. "No, this would be a little anti-climactic, don't you think? No, I know how this'll end..."
The Master walked towards The Doctor, The Doctor walking backwards with each step The Master took towards him. He reached into his pocket, looking for his own Screwdriver. The Master watched him as he reached for it and grinned.
"No no Doctor. It won't help you, not now. Your little sonic wand won't solve a thing."
"Oh really?"
"Oui."
As The Doctor drew out his screwdriver, The Master fired the gun. It hit the screwdriver and it flew out of The Doctors hand and over the edge of the roof.
The Master took two sudden steps forwards and grabbed The Doctor, who froze in fear. The Master leaned in and whispered into The Doctors ear.
"This is how it's going to end Doctor. A long fall and a sudden end. And, just hopefully, there'll be too much of a mess to regenerate. It's going to be fantastic."
The Doctors eyes widened and before he could react, The Master flung him forwards, over the edge of the roof.
Gravity took hold and the ground was getting incredibly closer to The Doctor. He closed his eyes and remembered the past. He remembered Susan, his long lost grand-daughter. All this time and he had never tried to find her. Lazy afternoons sat in the Tardis, watching everything from Digimon to some alien show from a far-flung planet. And now it was all coming to a finish. He hit the ground and everything went dark.
"...thank you." He whispered in his last moments and the Time Lord died.
