The metal car door clicked softly against the ketch, as Chelan walked up the walk to the front door of her house. She lugged her backpack and textbooks with her to the door. She hated school, you could do a lot more if it wasn't that you had to take extra classes that weren't necessary for you to do. What was carrying around an egg for 8 months going to help you with if you became an artist?
She stifled a yawn, as she fumbled with her keys, trying to find the one that unlocked her blasted house door.
When you walked thought the front door you entered the living room, which was decorated in warm wood tones with soft comfortable furniture, and a fire place against the wall. Passed the staircase lied the kitchen, made of marble and dark wood cabinets with bright yellow cloth covering the windows and table.
Chelan walked up the stairs to a room down the hall, her room. The room was small with just a desk, dresser, closet, and bed. The color tone was again earth colors with green being primary.
"Darn Hippies." Chelan's parents were 60's children, or at least they never grew out of the phase. Her father was in the later half of 50 and her mother the early half. They both loved each other, but couldn't get it out of there minds that their child just wasn't in the same mind set. The only thing Chelan was grateful for was that they weren't heavy hippies; they didn't smoke or demand that everyone be vegan. They were more save the world type, stop government's controlling attitude.
Chelan closed her door, an action that was strongly admonished against in the household, and stripped, grabbing her two-piece, aqua colored Speedo and slipped it on. She grabbed a pair of goggles and headed back down stairs again. She braided her dark brown, elbow length hair on the way. Outside the kitchen was a cement patio with a pool. The pool was tiled in dark blue colors and not heated. Much to the annoyance of Chelan in the winter, when the water either froze over or it was so cold it caused you to get severe freezer bite, forcing her to find something else to occupy herself for 3 months out of the year.
She snapped on her goggles and dove into the pool. The water rushes passed her in a tingling brush. It calmed her nerves and put her at peace, letting the stress drift and dissipates with the flow of the water. After a few laps, Chelan drifted across the water, performing flips and spins underneath the water to feel the rush.
She surfaced from the water and took in a deep breath before she dove back under. Dropping her head forward she flipped her legs over her. Misjudging the distance, Chelan smacked her head against the concrete covered tile, hard. "HMMM!" and a release of bubbles vibrated through the water. She tried to surface but her leg got caught in a hose cord at the bottom of the pool. She saw black and then blinked into oblivion, blood mingling with the chlorinated water.
