Dean knew he shouldn't have gone to get supplies on his own after he pissed off Crowley so badly. He probably had demons waiting to take him back to their master so he could tourture him or maybe he would set his hell hound on him. Of course Dean didn't realise how close to the truth he was.
"Hello Dean. I'm surprised you are out by yourself." Crowley appeared in front of Dean. To say Dean was scared was an understatement but he wasn't going to let Crowley know that.
"Crowley, I don't need a babysitter and I'm not a child." Dean tried to continue down the allyway but was stopped by a deep growl that came from thin air.
"So you want to die then? You want to be torn to shreds again? I will see you in hell Dean, and then I will spend my years breaking you on the rack." And with that Crowley promptly left without his hell hound. Dean glared at where the growl was comming from. He hated the fact that he couldn't see it.

"Cas, now would be a good time to save my ass, again. Plea-" Dean prayed to Cas but was interrupted when he was knocked to the floor by the hell hound. The hell hound was bigger than Dean expected and had broken a few of his ribs. He hissed out in pain as the hell hound started to claw at his leg. "Cas, I could really use your help here." Dean was beginning to pant in pain as the hell hound shredded his thigh. Dean was loosing a lot of blood; the hell hound had caught an artery in his leg. The hell hound suddenly stopped his attack on Dean's legs, instead choosing to circle the barely conscious hunter. "Cas, I need you. Please!" Just after the hunter finished speaking; the hell hound pounced. He tore into Dean's torso, biting and clawing through skin and muscle. "CAS!" The angel appeared just as one off the hell hound's claws punctured a lung. Cas kills the hell hound in seconds before crouching at Dean's side trying to heal him.

"Hey Cas."
"Hello Dean, how are you feeling?" Cas was trying to stay calm but his attempts to heal Dean were failing.
"Like shit Cas, how else am I meant to feel? I got ripped apart by a hell hound. Again!" Dean coughed up a spot of blood and groaned.
"I'm sorry Dean, but I cannot heal your injuries." Cas's voice was filled with regret.
"Figures. Now I'm not wanted by heaven. Oh well man; you tried." Dean covered up his pain with humour, as usual.
"Of course I tried Dean." Cas made it sound like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Hey Cas can I ask you something?" Dean's eyes were sliding closed.
"You just did Dean. But yes you can." Cas started to stroke Dean's hair.
"Did I ever tell you how much I care about you?" Dean asked as he grabbed the angel's other hand.
"I don't believe you did Dean." Cas's tone held no emotion at all.
"Oh, sorry Cas. I lo-well, I'm in love with you. And I'm sorry that I didn't tell you until I was dying." Dean squeezed Cas's hand.
"It is okay Dean, you didn't have to." Cas squeezed Dean's hand back.
"What d'ya mean?" Dean's voice was beginning to slur as he lost more blood.
"Our profound bond means that I can feel everything you feel." Tears were beginning to fill Cas's eyes as Dean came closer to death.
"Why didn't you tell me before?" Dean almost sounded disappointed.
"Because you weren't ready before Dean."
"Oh. Um do... do you love me?" Dean had never sounded so unsecure in his life.
"Yes I do Dean." Cas saw the reaper appear; waiting for Dean. Cas's tears overflowed and poured down his face.
"Oh cool. Cas, I'm really tired."
"It's okay Dean, You can go to sleep, I'll be here when you wake up."
"Thanks Cas." After those words Dean's head fell to the side and his hitched breathing ceased forever. When Cas heard Dean's final heart beat he felt his own heart breaking.
