Everyone Remembers.
Everyone remembers where they were on September 11 2001. Even if the were in fourth grade. Everything was stopped and all classes watched the coverage. But that's in the past, it's six years later now, and everything was normal at East High, except for the growing line of students sitting in the main hall. It started with Kelsi Nielsen and Gabriella Montez, both of whom had relatives die in the attack. The next person was Troy Bolton, followed by Chad Danforth and Jason Cross. They just sat, with their backs against the lockers, in companionable silence. Other groups of students began forming, up and down either side of the hall.
School was well underway now, but most of the students were now lining the hall. The Evans twins were a surprise. Sharpay, sitting by Kelsi and Ryan sliding down by Troy.
The bell signaling the end of first period rang in the distance, but no-one moved, and for a long while everyone stayed that way, just sitting side by side, occasionally exchanging a comforting hug, or a whispered encouragement, until Kelsi and Ryan both stood, so suddenly it made a shock wave throughout the hall.
"God Bless America,
Land that I Love
Stand beside her,
and guide her,
through the night
with the light from above
From the mountains,
to the prairie,
to the oceans
white with foam,
god bless America,
my home sweet home."
By the time they had finished, most of the student body had joined in, making a wave that washed over the school. It seemed the serious mood that had possessed them earlier had lifted somewhat, enough for them to stand and give hugs.
Sharpay turned to Kelsi, who had been crying through the song, and pulled her into a tight hug. Troy pulled Ryan into a bear hug, whispering something in his ear.
The End
(A/N. Hope you liked it. It was a spur of the moment thing based off what happened at my school today.)
