The Future
Chapter 1: Worries
"Percy," a voice whispered, originally he thought it was in his dream. He often dreamt about her, especially when they were separated.
"Seaweed Brain, wake up!"
"Uhh" Percy awoke with a start, pulling his head off his desk, he was met with those familiar, stormy grey eyes, the eyes he had come to love. He jumped up in surprise, whilst running his hand through his tousled jet black hair self-consciously.
"You're back!" He whooped punching the air with his fist "How was Boston did you find Magnus?"
"I'll explain later Seaweed Brain," she sighed "But right now I'm just glad to see you again," she announced pecking him on the lips and going to sit down on the sofa. If there was one thing Percy could understand it was Annabeth, and he knew that something was up. He joined her on the sofa, and looking deep into her endearing grey eyes he tucked one of the strands of her blonde her behind her ear and pulled her into an embrace.
"What's the matter Wise Girl?"
She snuggled into his chest ad playing with the beads on his camp necklace muttered "I don't know Percy, it's just that I'm worried about Magnus. He's different but not like us – I just don't know."
"Hey." He whispered "Magnus is related to you right? And if he's anything like you he'll be alright."
"Thanks Seaweed Brain, that makes me feel better." She said, although he could tell that she was still pondering over her cousin's situation. "So" she added with a questioning look "Have you been studying?"
"Yeah, well I'm just not as productive on my own as I am when you're here." He added with a smirk. "Also, like I told you on the phone, as Apollo's a mortal and all, I'm hoping he can give me a few pointers on the Music and Poetry sections, seeing as he wrote them!"
Annabeth chuckled, Percy's heart skipped a beat, Gods he'd missed that laugh.
"Well maybe you should get back to studying then because it is important and – "
Percy silenced her with a kiss. Maybe studying could wait until later she thought as they leant back to lie down on the sofa.
"Oh hi Annabeth, how was Boston?" Questioned Sally as she and Paul entered with the shopping.
Annabeth and Percy sprang apart, both blushing profusely. Sally and Paul chuckled as they set down the shopping on the kitchen counter. Percy still blushing went to help Paul unload the shopping, as he ushered his mother onto the sofa whilst she caressed her baby bump.
"How are you Annabeth Dear? How was Boston?" Questioned Sally whilst brushing the
hair out of her eyes.
Annabeth knew better than to lie to Sally and say things we fine, after all Annabeth and Sally had grown close in the months that Percy had gone missing. She launched into the full story of how she and her dad had found Magnus, only for him to be taken by her Uncle Randolph and then drop of a Bridge and be presumed dead. Then how she had met Magnus at the funeral home beside his dead body and he had left on some sort of quest. She knew that he wasn't fully mortal, but Magnus didn't resonate the power of a Greek demigod, she was just so unsure. If Sally Jackson was anything, she was a good listener, throughout Annabeth's story she held both of her hands and never once interrupted.
"Annabeth, I know it's hard letting go, trust me I have Percy for a son I know!" She chuckled "But to me it sounds like Magnus needs to do his own thing and plus he's a Chase he'll be ok, you'll see."
"I can tell who raised Percy, as he told me the same thing. It's just I find it hard letting him go, I've only just been reunited with him. If anything happened I –"
Annabeth's voice cracked and her eyes began to water as she wondered whether Magnus was okay or not. Percy came over to Annabeth and kissed her on the cheek whilst handing her a tissue and brushing the hair out of her eyes.
"Hey Wise Girl don't worry, if he's smart enough he'll know that if he gets into any trouble, he'll have you to answer to."
Annabeth sniffled and brushing the tears out of her eyes, felt a huge weight lifted of her shoulders, as if she hadn't realised the burden that she had been carrying before and how crippling the pain had been. Grinning for the first time in weeks she replied "I knew I could count on you guys."
Percy disappeared and Paul brought some blankets over for the girls and lit the fire, as the nights were beginning to lengthen and the mornings started off dark. Percy reappeared with a bowl of nachos and some of Sally's seven-layer dip beaming like a young child as he set them on the coffee table and sat down on the sofa snuggling next to Annabeth under the blanket. The family, joked and laughed as Annabeth recounted her story of the supposed 'subway monster' she had met in Brooklyn who turned out to be an extremely hungry tramp and Percy retold his story of driving Apollo and Meg to camp half blood and defeating the sickness spirits with the help of a peach karpoi.
