Reservation for One
The cabin coordinator - as her badge proudly proclaimed - patted his hand with sympathy. "Just for one?" She asked again, her eyes welling up for sympathy.
Trowa gritted his teeth and nodded. "Yes, just for me."
"You're no expecting any guests are you?" She said, toying with his cabin key.
"No. Can I have my key now?" Trowa murmured. She sighed and regretfully handed over his key.
It's not like he hadn't been given offers to spend Christmas with people. Cathy had asked, but she had just recently been married. Trowa knew her new husband wanted this to be a couple only event.
As usual, Duo had asked if he had wanted to spend his holidays in L2. Trowa had been tempted, but judging from the way Duo and Heero were staring at each, it would be filled with unresolved sexual tension.
That, Trowa had a plenty. He didn't need to be around Heero as he searched Duo's place for bugs, lingering in Duo's bedroom. Or how Duo would just focus on Heero when he got out of his shower, an indecent towel on his hips.
Plus Hilde had a smirk on her face that only prompted more situations where Heero got near naked. She had claimed that love was in the air. Trowa suspected that she was spraying pheromones.
Wufei had promised to spend the holidays with Lady Une and Mariemaia. Trowa wasn't that desperate to spend the holidays with his former superior officer. Plus Relena had hinted she might be around for dinner. For a moment Trowa had sworn that Wufei had looked like a hunted animal. Trowa would have been concerned if he didn't realise that Wufei relished it.
So. Alone. For Christmas.
He did have plans. He was going to the holidays around a roaring fire. Skiing. Snow boarding. Ice skating. Building snowmen. It was going to be very exciting. Lots of ice. And snow!
The cabin he had asked for was secluded, away from the hive of activity around the recreation centre. It was nearly dark when he arrived.
However the lights were on in the cabin and Trowa frowned. He didn't remember asking for that. Sighing, he placed his bags on the doorstep and prepared for a fight.
Instead he found Quatre relaxing front of the fire, leafing through a magazine.
"Hi, Trowa," Quatre said. "You wouldn't believe the lies they tell about me. Apparently I seduced Relena during the war and she had triplets."
"Triplets?" Trowa said weakly.
"Who knows when she had the chance," Quatre said, shaking his head in disbelief.
"What are doing here?"
"Well," Quatre said, reflectively, "I heard you were planning on spending Christmas alone."
"I have plans," Trowa murmured. Quatre quirked an eyebrow at him. "Be right back," Trowa muttered and retrieved his bags.
"So I decided," Quatre continued when Trowa returned, "That I would spend the Christmas with you. You shouldn't, Trowa, be alone when everyone is together."
"What about your family?"
"I have twenty nine sisters. Trust me, they won't miss me that much. I'm spending New year with them anyway. Winner family tradition," Quatre added.
"I see," Trowa said.
"And Trowa?" Quatre asked, standing up and walking over to Trowa. He smiled and kissed Trowa on the lips. "I wanted to make my move. Apparently I'm know for my seducing skills."
"Uh..."
Quatre laughed and kissed him again. "You do, er, have feelings for me?" Quatre questioned, running a hand through his hair. "Because, I thought - "
"I do!"
"Good!" Quatre exclaimed, bringing his hands together. Trowa couldn't help but smile at Quatre's expression.
