"Why trivialize color blue's complexity?"

Aksel yawned as Jazz' fingers brushed through his locks, Jazz' bedroom lights were off except for the TV that both merely used as a lulling sound "What'd you mean Jaaz?" Aksel mumbled sleepily.

Jazz sighed, "Blue eyes, they are either ocean blue or sky blue and it's always the same comparison, it sounds almost lame when you think about it."

"Ah," Aksel closed his eyes, "maybe it's because many people have that color and it's kind of boring to over romanticize something basic."

"Basic," Jazz repeated, "Are you kidding me now? Other people may have basic colors but yours is truly special and that's why I'm struggling to even describe it."

"hm…" Aksel hummed tiredly, it was a long day even before arriving to Jazz' house "It doesn't matter, can we sleep now?"

They spent the entire afternoon at Jazz' apartment and after realizing there wasn't much they could do under a heavy drizzle; both decided to watch some TV and then maybe eat something though the later was rapidly discarded almost immediately after getting beneath the fuzzy bed sheets, "No," Jazz frowned, "I mean I lack a more accurate description of the color of your eyes and when I think about it, it always goes all the way around those two fucking alternatives."

...

"Why is that even important Jaaz," Aksel slurred sleepily. The cotton sheets were hugging him close to doze.

"Because I kid you not, I was trying to find something that could describe the color of your eyes and I tried to emphasize how powerful and odd the shade is. Outside oceans and skies, people don't refer to blue in any other way. It's actually frustrating."

Aksel nuzzled against Jazz' collarbone, he was warm and he smelled good, Aksel just wished Jazz would shut up for good "You are making me blush, but who cares," he whispered lightheartedly "can we sleep yet?"

"No, think twice." Jazz kept looking upfront as if he was actually paying attention to the television, his fingers caressed the back of Aksel's neck, the more his fingers roamed down, the less attention Aksel paid him "They say there are a million colors. Color-wise, they say there is too much for a person to grasp, however poets still find blue to be compounded by two simple spectrums; either clear or dark, it all goes back to either the sky or the ocean. And that's when people with different hues get stuck, I just don't see your eyes to be lamely sky blue, I find them hard to even explain because your eye-color still looks very unnatural to say at least."

Aksel yawned yet again, "I hope that means you like them."

"I love them, perhaps you wouldn't be you without them. However, I just can't seem to come up with something that explains all the hues trapped inside your eyeball. Like, how the fuck does the sky has tints of black and silver?"

Aksel nodded and lazily intended to muffle Jazz' mouth with his hand, only for his hand to be pushed softly away, "I pretty much get what you mean, I'm honored you like them that much, for real. If it has to do with something, I also think you wouldn't be you without those evil eyes. They look like venom." Aksel smiled tiredly, "Can we sleep now?"

"There you go! Venom" Jazz' highlighted, enthusiast of his words "There you fucking go, you can call my eyes venom-colored because there are actually options besides- what's the most common comparison for yellow?- oh yeah!- rather than comparing them to gold you decided to go for venom!"

"I hope I didn't offend you..."

"No, no! That's the whole point of this, venom suits them better that the trivialized gold. I have no options besides the simple term 'sky'. Dark blue eyes don't have another romanticized option besides ocean. That's where I'm going, the freaking lack of creativity, blue shouldn't just fit between two options, that's exactly what I'm talking about."

Aksel sighed, "I get it, but I don't think it's actually a problem, you can always compare them to stones and jewelry."

"Perhaps but my point is how common it is to enclose blue in just two reachable variants, I'm speaking about romanticizing terms. The only thing a writer thinks of when they speak about blue is both oceans and skies. I'm telling you Aksel, I mean to take this to a deeper conversation, mainly about gradients."

"Jaaz I'm sleepy." Aksel went back to smudge his mouth lazily against Jazz' neck. "Too sleepy actually."

"Well I want to talk Aksel." he frowned, "Plus, I realized I never actually tried to find something that could match your eyes, not besides very basically saying 'yeah they are sky blue' or something like that."

"Jaaz," he protested, "I'm agonizingly sleepy, my eyelids are super heavy." Aksel slumped against him, "Let me sleep, I don't care about my eyes..."

"Can we perhaps talk about this later?"

...

"Is it that important to you?"

"It is." Jazz scowled, "I'm frustrated."

.

Jazz laughed out loud and realized about that one time that he spoke about the color blue with Aksel, how truly silly his conversation was, noting it was around a month ago and even after recalling to have insisted with the topic a couple of times later, he never imagined he would ever receive any kind of letter regarding that, however, even after imagining how much Aksel actually tried to move oceans and skies for him, he couldn't bring himself to be any less staggered; Jazz was actually speechless.

April 23th 2016

Dear Nakura Jazz:

It is with great desires of prosperity that The Japanese Academy of languages' -Department of book bolstering through the 56-Act, today contacts you to thank you very deeply for the reinforce of new synonyms of the "Sky-blue" color, mostly and very notably, in your preceding letter to our secretary's stall. For starters, we would like to thank your generous donation, it will help us include new words to educate our youth, and we would like you to know the goal is to enrich everyone's perspective- especially children- about more extensive vocabulary for hues as you previously pointed out; we have studied over 500 synonyms as per your suggestion and we have sent renewed booklets to over 700K new alums.

In addition, our charitable editorial has approved of 2017's renewal of content in the colors section for every public school's yearly book pack. At least 39 new options were included in over 500 different books that will revitalize how children imagine the colors outside what we settled by bequest in previous years. We forward you at least three new booklets and we hope you enjoy them as much as the youngest generations will.

Ps: the staff's favorite is easily 'Lazuline', described as a topaz crystal with hoary sunspecs that enrich the glazed color. We all think it's a beautiful synonym to the Sky-Blue color.

Thank you for your attention and interest in our program.

Sincerely,

The Japanese Academy of languages JAL. (Book Bolstering Department –JAL]"

"Aksel, did you really pay to a government's organization to include more synonyms for the… Sky-blue color?"

Aksel kept serenely cooking from afar, he grabbed some toasted herbs and with his fingers he spread them all over his broiling soup "I thought you were frustrated by that 'issue' Jaaz. I thought I had to do something to fix it…"

Jazz' mouth gaped, as if he suddenly understood what Aksel did, his eyes opened wide, he was dumbfounded, the letter in his hand suddenly became unreal "Are you fucking kidding me now?"

"When have I lied?" Aksel flashed a chivalrous smirk and kept his attention down his soup, it was starting to smell really good.

"N-never I mean…" Jazz gulped and gasped, "fucking what," His eyes skimmed skeptically through the papers again, "How much did you have to pay to make those changes like… wow."

"Ehh," Aksel's unimpressed tone dismissed his observation altogether, "My family needed a huge skim-like distraction from the government whilst they capitalized future terrorist acts that will infiltrate through their archives and prioritized security webs, so even after giving up a large sum of money, we win up strategy and even more money with an increased rate of at least 500%."

"…"

"…"

"…"

"I'm kidding Jaaz, I was just fed up with you. You are annoying."

"…"

"Do you want some soup?"
