It was believed that she took time off for medical reasons. Suspected was a mental breakdown after the traumatic events and, mental stress from the criminal trials after. She is currently the general manager and wrestling talent with TNA wrestling and one of their biggest stars. A representative of TNA has stated Chloe will give a statement within the next few days….."
Chloe sat fixated on the TV in her apartment in downtown Nashville. Her cell phone rang and she knew before seeing the name who it had to be. "Hello." She got up turning off the TV rolling her eyes.
"Hey, Chloe. It's Shawn."
"I know who it is. I'm not making any statement. My PR person has it taken care of. I'm trying to get past this. For about the hundredth time. STOP CALLING ME!" She started to hang up.
"Chloe! Don't hang up on me again. Please. We miss you girl. Well, I do anyway." Shawn did miss her. They hadn't spoken for almost two years. They were once so close and now barely spoke.
"It's been five years since everything happened. I just want to be left alone. I'm back to work. That's what everyone wanted. May not be WWE but, TNA is good for me. Why do you call me almost every week anyway? We have hardly talked or seen each other in forever. But you still bug the shit out of me." Chloe went to the bedroom down the hall stopping in the doorway. She missed her friends too. But, too proud to admit it.
"You still talk to Kevin and the guys. But not me. Why? I miss you too. Besides, you are my friend and, always will be. After all, we have been through...well...I just want to make sure you're ok. I know this has to be hard right now."
"You know why I won't see you or talk, Shawn. It's too hard. You're his best friend. I still talk to the guys because Kevin doesn't take no for an answer. They know not to bring Hunter up to me. You, on the other hand, always seem to." Chloe went into the room picking up her little boy who was asleep on the floor. Placing him in his little wrestling style bed.
"He talks about you all the time. I think he misses you. Honestly, I think he always has. But, like you, he won't admit it." Shawn said sadly.
"Bullshit. He chose her and his career over me. I know they are divorced now. Kevin told me. But, it's been a while." Chloe turned out her son's bedroom light leaving the door opened so she could hear him if he woke up in the night.
"Come on Chlo. You know why Hunter broke things off. You wouldn't let him get close. You became so distant during the trials none of us could get through to you. Hunter loved you. He decided to move on because he felt like he was holding you back. Like it was just bringing back bad memories."
"Humm…so, he loved me enough to break up with me when I needed him most. Then to pour salt in the wound he married Stephanie without so much as telling me. He did it on TV and real life. He chose a damn storyline to get him ahead and, then married the bosses daughter to really get over. He got what he wanted. To be at the top of the hill. Listen, Shawn. I miss you. You and I were great friends. But if you want to talk to me, leave Hunter out of the conversation."
"Well, I get it. I know it seemed that way then. But it wasn't...damn...Ok. I'll shut up. Let's talk about this situation of Alec getting released. How are you doing with the news?" Shawn said concerned.
Chloe went silent,"... I'm scared. I've been having the feeling I'm being followed all the time. It started about a year after I moved out of Brett's house. And, this is just making it worse. Brett thinks I'm paranoid. Maybe I am. Just hate being alone, ya know."
(Sigh) "Brett Hart. Geez. Why did you move in with him anyway? Something else to that situation I should know? I know there is more to the story than you let on. Kev knows something but, won't talk to any of us cause she said it's not his place to tell your business." Shawn said annoyed.
"Stop. Scott bitches at me about that too. Brett was trying to be a good friend after Hunter dumped me. He helped me through some other really personal stuff I was going through. He started to get too involved and wanted more. I just wasn't wanting another relationship. So, I got my own place and, got signed to TNA. That is all you need to know." Chloe went to her own room flopping on the bed.
"I told you he wanted more than just friends. Brett is a dog. He messed with Sunny too. You blamed me for being petty cause I don't like him and, you stopped talking to me. You said I was being a jealous jerk." Shawn sounded hurt.
"I know Shawn. I'm sorry. You were right about Brett. We don't talk as much now. But, being around you, Kevin, Scott, and X-Pac all the time, was just making things more complicated. I had to get myself together. You always talking about Hunter or, you told him everything I did or said. I needed to get my life back on my own terms." Chloe fidgeted with her hair.
"Listen, I'm in town for a few days. Can we meet up tomorrow afternoon for lunch? I want to talk to you. See you in person. I miss my Chlo." Shawn tried to keep Hunter from hearing him, who had just walked in. They were in town for a few shows in Nashville and, Hunter had a bad attitude since they arrived.
"Ok fine. Come alone. So help me, Shawn. If he comes I'm leaving." Chloe insisted.
"Deal. Gotta go. I'll text you later where to meet me." Shawn hung up.
"Who was that? Like I should even ask. You call her almost every week." Hunter threw down his bag irritated.
"She didn't hang up on me this time." Shawn tried to not look at his friend.
Hunter sat across from him in the locker room staring mad glares in Shawn's direction. "Of course, Little Miss Victim needs someone to swoop in and save her again."
"HUNTER! What the hell is your problem? You know she is going to need someone to help her deal with this situation. I'm not going to abandon her. You know you wouldn't be able to either if…nevermind. Anyway, you ask Kevin about her all the time. It's ok for you to check on her well being but, not me? Why shouldn't I be worried about her? Like it or not I care about her as my friend. Even if you don't." Shawn crossed his arms in anger glaring back at Hunter.
Hunter looked up, "If what?"
Shawn ignored the question.
"IF WHAT!" Hunter yelled.
"If…" Shawn hesitated knowing Hunter was already mad at him for talking to her. "If...you knew she still loved you. You obviously still care something for her, or you wouldn't check on her." Shawn looked over with contempt in his eyes.
"I gave up on that a long time ago. You should too. I just want to know she's doing good. I'm not a monster." Hunter grabbed a water bottle and went to look over his phone messages.
"I don't care if you get mad at me. Chloe needs someone right now. Kevin says she's all alone except for work. I'm not turning my back on her. She never did me when I needed someone a few years ago, during my injury. She came for two weeks to help me." Shawn looked over at Hunter with disappointment.
"So...that's what you think I did? Abandoned her? If you think that then you're as clueless as she was." Hunter got up grabbing his bag and storming out the door. Before he did he turned back to Shawn. "I didn't abandon her. She checked out on me. I would have given her the world." Hunter slammed the door.
Talking to himself Shawn rubbed his head. "She didn't want the world, she wanted you! Stupid idiot."
"I heard that Shawn!" A gruff voice came from the hall.
Hunter exited the room leaning against the wall next to the Evolution locker room across the hall. Opening his phone he looked at Chloe's smiling face looking back at him. A photo he had saved of the two of them on the beach a little over five years ago. He wanted to reach out to her. Know she was ok. But, she shut him out emotionally months before he left her.
Even Stephanie had begged him to contact her. Even though now divorced Steph and Hunter remained friends. When Stephanie found out the first news of Alec's release. She tried to get Hunter to go see Chloe and check on her but, Hunter was having no part in it.
"Champ! What's up?" Ric Flair patted him on his back. Looking down he saw Chloe's photo. "You know, time heals all wounds, Hunter. Call her. She may want to hear from you. I saw the news this morning."
"No. She made it clear, last we spoke, she never wanted to see or talk to me again. When she found out about Steph and I...it broke her heart. I never told her about Steph and I dating after we broke up, more less about the wedding. She found out online. I told the guys to not to tell her. I just want to know she is ok. Shawn will fill me in on her. I bet he is going to meet with her. He's not very good at keeping things from me and, she lives here in Nashville." Hunter turned off his phone.
"Ok big guy. Just hate seeing you this way. Last few days you have been in a foul mood. But, I see why now." Ric ushered Hunter into the Evolution locker room.
