"You have to remember that this is all just entertainment for them, and they expect the best from their actors," Finnick tells her.

"I'm not much of an actress," Annie says.

"You'll have to learn how to be fast. From the moment you were reaped, you've been expected to amuse them, and the better you are at doing that, the more likely you are to succeed.

"I have to go now, but remember that for the chariot rides. That's your first test, although your private session and interview will be even more important.

"Don't worry though; I can help you. I've learned plenty in the years that I've been here."

He gives her bright smile and then leaves.

Watching him walk out, Annie wonders why he is being so attentive. His mentoring could be put to much better use elsewhere. People like her don't win the Hunger Games after all.

Perhaps, Finnick was just practicing his own acting.
