CHAPTER 1 -
He felt its salty taste as it gently rolled into the corner if his mouth. He missed Clara, he missed having someone there, someone to talk to. He knew she was happy though, she was with Danny after all. He smiled to himself then, wiped his face and pulled a few leavers. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. That was very unusual.
He walked slowly to the door and opened it. A young girl stood outside, about 5ft tall, dark blonde hair and brown eyes that stared up at him hopefully. She looked about 14 years old. Ish.
"Um hello, is this the police?" Something about her looked familiar to him, he couldn't work out what. Even though he wasn't the police of course, he though it was worth a try.
"Well, yes, sort of, I'm an outer-space police" he said staring down at her, smirking.
"What do you mean outer-space? I don't have time for jokes, this is important. In fact, it's actually an emergency."
The doctor smiled at this and looked down at her red, scuffed converse.
"I don't usually just help people like this..." He said staring at her in the eyes.
"Oh please help, your the police after all, that's what police do." There was something about her eyes the doctor thought, something familiar, friendly.
"Okay, I'll help you. Come inside. Only on one condition, you don't touch anything."
"Are you joking? It's a bit small! Why don't you just take me to a police station?!"
"Look, do you want me to help you or not?"
"Yes"
"Good, then come in" The doctor pushed the door into the TARDIS and walked inside, the girl followed after.
"OMG! It's its it's it's -"
"Bigger on the inside..." The doctor mimed quietly to himself as he watched her beam as she looked around in an utter state of shock.
"The TARDIS!"
"What?!" The doctor stared at the girl in confusion. "How do you know that?" The doctor looked around expecting there to be some big sign hanging from the ceiling or something.
"My mum told me all about this! The TARDIS. She told me stories, I was only little, but I never knew it was real!" The doctor looked mysteriously into her eyes, how did she know about is TARDIS? More importantly, who was her mother?
"So that means your not a policeman at all! Your-"
"The Doctor"
"Doctor who?"
"More importantly, who are you?"
"I'm Lucy, Lucy Tyler" the doctor swallowed then and took a step back, something bad was happening, something involving parallel universes, and Rose.
"What's wrong?"
"Who was your mother? What does she work as?" He said staring into her eyes, serious now.
"She works for Torchwood. But that's the problem, I don't know where they are, my parents. I went to find them at work, I was lead down to a long corridor, she wasn't there, I decided to take a chance and turned into a room on my left. All I can remember was strange lights,a few people, and then I saw a very bright light, and then...BAM! I was here. Right outside this police box thing. So...can you help me?"
"Yes, maybe, potentially dangerous, I could rip as whole in the whole entire universe! Except I've done it before, and it ended up being a very serious catastrophic mess."
Lucy nodded, she looked distraught.
"Except there's one thing, one very, very, important thing Lucy."
"What is it?" She asked, looking into the Doctors worried eyes, mutual to hers. "What is your Mum's name?" The doctor had his hands on Lucy's shoulders now.
"Rose," she replied. The Doctor swallowed a lump in his throat and stared in utter shock at Lucy.
"Hang on- I shouldn't be telling you this stuff! You don't seem like a police man to me! You work for Torchwood don't you! You did this to me! You bought me here! This is all your fault!"
"Sshhhhh" The doctor held his fingers to his lips and Lucy fell silent.
"Lucy the first thing you should know about me is I'm no policeman, and I'm also not working for Torchwood. In fact, I used to work against them. Now, I don't know what I'm going to do yet so I need you to listen, and only that. I'm a time lord. The last of them, in fact. Your mum knows this, so I know she may have already told you."
Lucy nodded. "You can speak now." The doctor added.
"How can I trust you?" Lucy asked, suspiciously.
"Ask me something, something you think only the Doctor would know."
"Okay..." she seemed to think about it for a few seconds until she had made up her mind, she bought her eyes to his.
"If it is you, and I'm pretty sure it is. Then answer me this: What was the last thing you said to my mum? When you were on the beach, after the battle of canary wolf?" The doctor gulped and seemed to hold back tears.
"I said RoseTyler" the doctor replied, bowing his head a little.
"Oh. My. God it really is you isn't it! I-" the Doctor cut her off before she could say any more.
"Except you know me don't you. There's more there than just the Doctor, You sense it. You sense the small connection between us. Something in the back of your mind, seeping through."
"How did you know that?" Lucy asked, bewildered.
"I can sense it too"
"Why? Why can we both?-"
"Did your mother tell you about when she left me for the last time? Not the battle of canary wolf, but when I left her with your Father and Jackie, back on bad wolf bay?"
"Yes"
"Then you must know, that in fact, your father was an exact copy of me. A genetic meta-crisis-"
"Yes, she told me. You're the same person as him I get it. But except you're not him. You look... Different." Lucy pitched in, looking the doctor up and down.
"I regenerated. Twice since your Mum last saw me."
"So...oh my god... does that mean...you're my dad?"
"No. Yes. No. Sort of. Like a half-dad. It's hard to explain."
"I have time."
"Except no, Lucy. That's the point, we don't. We don't have long before the rift gets torn apart and the whole universe collapses. Your universe too. This wasn't supposed to happen. The rift was supposed to have closed. You, aren't even supposed to be here. We, aren't supposed to be talking."
"I know" she nodded.
"What strikes me Lucy, is in fact how you got drawn to this very point in time and space, to find me, and the TARDIS."
"A coincidence?"
"Nothing happens like that, nothing. There's something I'm missing."
"A miracle."
"What?"
"You asked how I ended up here, by the TARDIS?"
The Doctor smiled, "Your too much like your mother."
Lucy grinned at him. That familiar grin. Her wide mouth, he big chocolate eyes. Her golden hair, only slightly darker than Rose's.
"There's one thing for it Lucy"
"What?"
"We need to find one of my old friends, I figure he might be able to help."
"And who's that?"
"Captain Jack Harkness"
