We Remain- Chapter one
Clarke POV
Taking the reaper tunnels as our exit was our only option after Raven and Wick blew the original generator, the front door would now need to be manually opened and we had no one who could do it. The state Raven was in after Wick's death left us temporally without a mechanic.
Once Octavia lead the way through the tunnels using a tone generator she was able to keep the Reapers at bay. I looked though my people trying to spot Bellemy and found him with Raven leaning against him with puffy red eyes.
"Bellamy!" I yelled out, trying to grab his attention.
After several attempts our eyes finally connected and we made our way towards each other, leaving Raven with Jasper who was also mourning Maya death.
You could tell he hadn't slept for days and I suddenly felt terrible for sending him into mountain by himself.
I wanted to hate Lexa for betraying me, but if I saw my people caged up and the mountain men offered to let my people go without any bloodshed in return to retreat I can't say for certain that I wouldn't take their offer.
"What is it Clarke?" Bellamy asked frowning.
Taking a deep breath I said something that had been on by mind since I found my mum and Kane lying on medical tables pale and cold. "I don't think we should go back to Camp with the rest of the Arc people, we should leave."
His frown deepened but didn't respond. "We've survived without them before and there is 20 something left of us. Kane and my mom are both gone" I said trying to hold it together for my people. "Which means there is no one to lead the arc people."
"You will" he responded.
I snorted, "After what happened with the Commander?" I shook my head. "None of the guards will listen to us, most of our people here don't trust them and are afraid they'll be locked up as soon as they cross the line into the camp.
I could see on bellamy's face when he made his decision. "Your right, but we need some supplies if we are to leave. I could slip in through the Camp's side fence."
Shaking my head I grabbed his arm "No they can't know we got out of the mountain safe, they would never let us leave. Octavia could tell them we were killed by the mountain men, then she'll find Lincoln at the grounder camp and met up with us in the woods."
Bellamy nodded his head. "Where should we go."
I frowned, not sure myself but then remember a place Lexa told me about. "The Capital."
"Where's the Capital?" he asked with confusion written all over his place.
That's a good question, I didn't even know if it was safe. "I don't know, we could find a grounders camp and Lincoln could find out, I heard Lexa say something about one up north that she rarely visits." It wasn't the best idea but at least it was something.
Lexa POV
The feast had been active all through the night family's being reunited with their loved ones. It should have made me pleased yet all I felt was emptyness. I would have retired to my tent hours ago yet every time I closed my eyes for rest I saw Clarke's face when she figured out the deal I had accepted. The devastation of knowing there was no hope for her people, the hurt of my betrayal, but the worse one I could not even find a name for. All I know is how it made me feel.
The only comfort I have now is knowing that Clarke will be safe. In my deal with the mountain general Clarke was off limits. Only her people were to be sacrificed. Not that she would ever know that part of the deal.
Just about to pour myself another drink, I heard footsteps coming behind my throne. "Commander!" Indra called out, before she stood in front of my throne which had been situated so I could join in the feast.
I could see Indra was upset which is strange for she is one of my toughest warriors.
"What troubles you Indra?" usually I would not converse myself with my warriors on personal matters. However Gustus my last bodyguard was the exception.
"In the tunnels at the mountain we came across some Reapers, one of them was my son Nikolas" I could see water in her eyes and felt a bit guilty.
Now that I betrayed the Sky People there was no hope that they would heal the Reapers. I was so caught up trying to free my people inside the mountain I forgot all about healing the Reapers.
"Heda! Heda!" my new bodyguard came storming my way with the Octavia of the sky people over his shoulder and a bag slung over his other shoulder.
Throwing her on the ground in front of my feet, the sky girl still dressed in our clothing looked up at me with puffy red eyes and tear stains on her face. "Please I just want Lincoln." She begged.
I raised my head high and made sure my mask was well in tact. "Lincoln is one of my people, he will stay with us" I had heard around Camp the girl was no longer Indra's second after disobeying her in the ripper tunnels. "You are of the Sky people, you should be with your people."
Tears slowly began to make their way down her face. "They killed my people."
So it was done, Clarke's people were killed. I was telling Clarke the truth when I told here I did care if her people were killed. "I am sorry to hear that Octavia of the Sky people" I said genuinely, yet kept my face emotionless.
The Sky girl's face turned fierce "ARE YOU?" she yelled with such bitterness that I almost asked for her head. However I knew Clarke had just lost 44 of her people, it would be cruel to take another.
The girl seemed to have created a crowd, and hadn't seemed to of finished. "If you were truly sorry" she emphasised on the word sorry. "You wouldn't have left Clarke and my people to be slaughtered" her face filled with disgust.
When I heard Clarke's name I suddenly stopped breathing and my mask slipped "YOU LIE" I yelled standing abruptly. The girl looked at me confused by my outburst. "I was promised Clarke's safety, it was part of the deal." I could tell my generals were shocked at this condition of the deal I made, but I didn't care this was my fault, her blood was on my hands.
Octavia seemed to of shaken off her confusion and scoffed at me "Yeah, trust the people who locked your people in cages and bleed them dry." She kicked my bodyguard in the knee and glared at me. "You really know who to trust" she spat, rolling her eyes. "Take me to Lincoln" she demanded.
Sorry about some of the grammar. I had trouble writing Lexa, I find her complex if you know what I mean. It's had to figure out what's going on inside her mind. By the way I don't know if this will be a Clexa or a Bellarke, because I love them both.
