One Beautiful Afternoon
By Delation
~Hetalia Giripan/Greece x Japan~
Japan walked along the quiet path, illuminated by the afternoon sun. The man he liked best, but would never admit to it, was Greece, and he was strolling along silently next to him. They both enjoyed this time together, the peace, and quiet. And Japan was content with just being near Greece. He had no idea how laid-back nation felt about him, and being such a modest country himself, Japan could not bring himself to ask. Greece stopped, and Japan allowed his eyes to linger on his friend, watching him, his head tipped back, allowing the heat of the sun to warm his face. After a moment, Japan did the same. They both sat down in the grass, and Greece leaned back onto his elbows.
"You know, Japan, I love this afternoon sunlight, almost as much as I love cats. Which is a lot, as you know." He shut his eyes and layed back onto the soft grass.
"Yes, Mr. Greece, you do love cats an awful lot." He sat cross-legged next to his crush and watched him as he soaked up the warm afternoon air. This was a beautiful day. And there were many beautiful creatures in this world. One of which, sat mere inches away from him. "It is quite beautiful today, Mr. Greece."
"Yes. It makes me think. There are a lot of things I want to say, but I don't quite know how to say them." He turned and eyed Japan.
"O-oh. Well, when you feel you need to express your thoughts, I will be pleased to listen." Something inside Japan ached, and he nearly jumped. He had never felt this way before. For some reason, he wanted Greece's thoughts to be of him. To be that he felt the same feelings for Japan, as he did Greece.
"Thank you, Japan." He rolled over and began stroking a cat that had wondered up to him. "Hey, this cat reminds me of you. So quiet, and nice, and very adorable."
Japan looked over at his companion in surprise. Very adorable? Was this how Mr. Greece saw him? It gave him a hope that he wanted so very badly to ignore. He didn't want to be given false hope, only to have his heart torn apart.
"Very... adorable?" He twisted his body around so that he could look directly at Greece, who had picked up the cat and turned to face Japan.
"Yes. All cats are adorable. Especially this one. That's why it reminds me of you." He stroked the soft fur on the cats head and then placed a small kiss on one of the ears. Japan's face turned slightly pink, as he imagined Greece placing a kiss on his ear.
"What are you thinking, Japan?" He set the cat down now, patted it on it's head, and then shooed it away.
"Just that... well, you said that the cat reminded you of me, and then you said it was adorable. Is... is that what you think of me?"
"Of course. I've always liked you Japan. But you're such a quiet and shy country. I wasn't sure how to tell you. But I also knew that you would never say anything, so unless I did, I would never know how you felt." To Greece's surprise, Japan scooted closer to him. Greece was about to ask Japan about his personal space, but he felt the modest country rest his head on his shoulder.
"It's always very peaceful when I am with you, Mr. Greece. I like it a lot." He scooted closer and wrapped his arms around the brunette nation.
"Yes, I like it too. I also like you, even more than I like cats." They both laid down in the grass on their sides, and Japan snuggled up to Greece's chest, listening to his heart beat.
"That is quite a lot. I'm very happy to hear that." Japan's heart beat faster and faster with each word he spoke, and with every breath his love took.
"Me too." And Japan's face flushed cherry red when he felt the two soft lips brush against his ear.
