Author's Note: This story is just something quick I wanted to write for Halloween. I hope you like it. It takes place when Sam and Dean are kids on their own on Hallows Eve. I hope you like it. It is my first Supernatural story. I would love some feed back. Sorry for it being short but I wrote it in like 20 minutes.
Young Sammy and Dean find themselves bored as heck when their Dad goes off hunting something new and scary. Tonight, though, is different. Tonight is Halloween. Little Sammy wants to go out and trick or treat more than anything else in the world.
"Please Dean. We do not have to go far. I am sooooooo booooooored. We can just go around the apartment building." Sam pleads eyes turning a little red from holding back tears. Dean does not look up from his small sawed-off shotgun.
"No Sammy. We cannot. This is possibly the worst time to go outside. Who knows how many monsters are out there." Dean responds for the hundredth time that night. His little brother constantly whining about not being a normal kid. Having to be couped up in an apartment is not helping him out on bit.
"We don't have to be out for very long. Please. I want to be a normal kid for just ten minutes. Is that too much to ask for?" Sammy demands and a tear falls down the side of his face. Dean finally looks up at him.
"Yes Sammy. It is too much to ask for when you are part of this family. We are always in danger of some kind of monster." Dean retorts and frowns a little. When Sam is sad it breaks his little heart. Dean wants to go out as well but he has to be the responsible older brother and protect him.
"This is not fair!" Sam responds and goes to a separate room and slams the door. Sam buries himself into a pile of blankets. He does not stire when Dean lightly knocks on the door and tries to give him words of comfort. "Go away!" Sam yells at the door and throws a pillow at the door. It gives a light thump but that is it. The sound of footsteps retreat from the door and back into the tiny living room. Sam buries himself back into the covers. He cries himself off to sleep.
After he is out the sound of wings flapping comes into the room. Sam does not stir. But the sound is gone and the presence in the room is gone. Not long later Sam sits up with a start after having a nightmare of being chased by a werewolf. He flips on the light and on the bedside table is a small pile of candy. All of which are his favorites. On the top of the pile there is a piece of paper that says:
"Enjoy something sweet kid. Remember, angels are watching over you. -G"
Like I said, short. I had to wrap it up quicker than I wanted to. Wrote half of this listening to "Carry On My Wayward Son"
