"Why are you so evil? Tricking me! What could you possibly hope to gain?" Roxanne looked at him, her blue-grey eyes clouded in anger and pain.

Brilliant green eyes looked up from the ground, shadowed, hidden beneath his brows, slowly opening up, allowing her to see him vulnerable. She read something else in his eyes and disbelief shocked her system clear of the anger she'd been feeling only moments before.

"…Wait a minute," her eyes widened, "Ugh! I don't believe this!"

Megamind swallowed, his green eyes glinting transparently with hope, however forsaken. Roxanne stepped backwards, the proof in front her making her back away.

"Do you really think I would ever be with you?!" The strength of the words, fed by her building anger, made her lean in, a cultured savagery in her tone.

The look of one's hopes slowly crumbing, twisted Megamind's face with disappointment and the self-hatred of letting himself think he could be someone else.

"No." His voice soft with defeat. He gaze lowered, once again he'd been beaten, but this time, it hurt so much more. It wasn't a game anymore. Roxanne brushed past him, arms wrapped around her body, to insulate herself from the world or to ward off the cold rain.

Megamind turned, following her with his eyes, hoping, and damning himself for hoping, that she would remember the fun they'd had together, the looks they'd shared.

But she didn't turn. Admitting his defeat, his ultimate defeat, 'And the last,' he promised himself, he turned and began the trek back to his supposedly 'secret' hideout.

In the hours it took him to walk there, slowly trudging ever homeward, he re-evaluated everything he could remember. So many times he'd gone over the top, almost comically so. And it worked between him and Metro Man.

But things were different now. No superhero opposed him, no matter the efforts with the idiot Hal Stewart. No Minion supported him, a twist in his gut at the reminder of their fight, and the words spoken. And finally, no girl. No one could ever love him. Would ever want to. A snarl turned his face.

Thing were different now. With time comes change. And no one would be ready for his change. He'd make sure of it.

OoooO

A/N: So yeah, I do actually have a plot for this, but want to see what people think of this first.
