Off limits.
This is the term used, not out loud but nevertheless known to be used by nearly every man holding a position in either Stargate program about three women. They, of course, are oblivious but the men know. It is seen as a list, of sorts, going in order of who cannot be thought of to who definitely cannot be thought of in that way.
The first, and arguably hardest, would be Vala Mal Doran. Though she flirts and teases those around her, making it very hard not to be thinking in certain ways, her affections are surely reserved for but one man on the SGC base. Dr. Daniel Jackson. And though there is little evidence of an actual relationship between the two it is obvious that Jackson is just as caught up in Vala as she is in him. His actions alone when she lost her memory would be proof enough. So she is termed as off limits.
The second would be a Pegasus galaxy native on the Atlantis leading team, Teyla Emmagan. Strong, leader of her people, a gifted warrior and a natural beauty; it is obvious of the reasons why she is attractive. Also obvious is the man by her side most of the day, and presumably night. Atlantis' military commander and leader of SGA1; Lt. Colonel John Sheppard. What they have is not outwardly apparent, it is not flaunted and those new to Atlantis know nothing. But they learn quickly, notice the small things and realize the truth. She is off limits.
The third and most unattainable would have to be Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter. Member of SG1, brilliant astrophysicist and earth beauty she would brighten up many a man's day. But she is not to be thought about, not to be touched. One word can be used to explain this. O'Neill. Brigadier General Jack O'Neill. Again, the relationship is not flaunted, not really noticeable. But it is there, the two are together and all know not to disturb something that took so long, and many hard times, to reach. It is how it should be and so she is completely and utterly off limits.
It is a test, to be surrounded by such women and to keep hands and thoughts clean. Many say that it is right, that what these couples have been through makes them deserve their happy ending, together. So when newbie's come it is with whispered words that they are greeted with, warned away from these temptations. These women, these three women, are unattainable, restricted, classified even.
They're off limits.
