My Memories

The Dark Queen sat in her throne. The castle was empty. Once there was no laughter of children. Her subjects came to her for words of wisdom. The Queen peered to her right. It was a throne in cold stone, towering in its power. A hollow reminder of a past love.

It did nothing to describe the love she once felt. Merely a reminder of the role he had played. They had played. Hand in hand they protected their people. She never cared for it. The power and riches. Their love. That is all she wanted. When all was said and done he was hers. Behind closed doors, that is when she was truly able to have him all to herself.

They would sometimes just hold hands in the moonlight. They would stare out upon their kingdom. Their faithful people. It all seemed like it would go forever, but it didn't.

He was taken from her.

She could still remember losing him. She had cried out in misery. She had clutched at her sides, burying her head in his pillow until that too faded. All that she had left of him was that power.

The people had cried with their Queen but soon she become corrupt through her bitterness. She would listen to no one. Her heart was too broken. She would allow none to council her. Slowly over time she lost sight of what she was doing and was no longer helping those under her influence. Instead the power was all that mattered.

She was no longer close to him in memory and became blind with rage. There was no making this right. She'd tried but not even the strongest of forbidden spells could help him.

So instead she sought for revenge to sate her rage. Though that too didn't work. All she wanted was to be where she was. In a time of happiness. To not be alone, but even that was impossible. Soon she would lose her son and be sent to shackles. Though she would sooner die than let it come to that.

She would sooner die before anyone ever stole her freedom. For that was one thing she would never be willing to lose.
