Butterfly of Blue
I remember that day clearly, it was twilight
And I was crying, knees to my chest, breathing heavily
I cried for a mother, but instead I got a sister
She appeared from the ocean
Rizing from a patch of water that bled red, like her eye
I was afraid, but then she started to hum
Hummed a soothing lullaby, like mama
She sat next to me, pulled me into her cold hard lap
I cried harder, I wanted mama I told her
So she ran off into the distance, leaving large footprints in the sand
She returned, hands clasped together humming excitedly
She never spoke, but I new she didn't want me to cry
Heavy gloved hands reveal an azure butterfly
Butterfly wings flutter lightly, dancing to her hums
It lands on my shoulder, velvet wings sweep across my skin
Large and rough hands engulf tiny soft ones, skies a purple and pink hue
I'll be okay mamma, I'll follow her and her butterfly of blue
