The Decision
I stood upon the shore and pondered
Why the sea is never blue.
Then while the sea stood still I wandered,
Every step remembering you.
I watched 'til you were past the feeling
Of the darkness, of the pain.
I watched as you began your healing,
Sailing through the pouring rain.
And yet I wonder, as I hear
The cries of lonly gulls above,
Have I something left to fear?
Will you still live to share my love?
I know the sea pulls at my tears.
The salty brine cries out:
"I thirst for signs of aging years,
Which I cannot go without!"
So I give up, the struggle lost,
Allow my tears to flow.
The stinging wind tells me the cost
Of what I gave up long ago.
Resolve is strong within my heart.
A Traveling Time has come.
I'm standing at the very start,
Hearing the ocean hum.
Footsteps, footsteps in the sand,
Tell me where to go:
To Valinor, my master's land,
Or the Shire in the snow?
Step to the left or to the right,
My fate at last decides.
The shore is fading from my sight.
I'll find where Frodo hides.
My destiny at last revealed
Waits in my master's arms.
So there I go, to follow the spell
Of the elf-folk songs and charms.
...end...
