TRIPPIN' HOME
| By Etiome

Time was a slow tread though a vast ocean.

Winry frowned, anguish in her brows, as she swiped her hands across the calendar to reveal the circled date hidden behind the non-eventful month of June. It had been five months since the blond boy paid a visit to his hometown. The boy had not replied to any of Winry calls recently, nor did he send any letters to keep the girl informed of his journey west. Oh god, even pigeon mail would have suffice. That boy knew nought how to please a girl; especially one like Winry, whose disposition varied like homeostasis, only to be controlled by that imbecile-of-a-fiancé Edward Elric.

The gleaming sun and the lofty clouds, a mirror of the peace that had reigned over Resembool, only helped to further emphasise the slowness of Winry's world in the absence of her so called "beloved."

That's right. Beloved was in cased between quotation marks, for his lack of attendance has got Winry questioning whether or not they were still legitimately "together". Of course Winry knew that it was impossible to bind Edward down (she actually found his adventurous spirit to be quite charming... and almost enticing...) but seriously. She was four months pregnant. And yet that Edward Elric was still lurking somewhere in the middle of some random desert, completely unaware of his offspring being formulated in the womb of the woman he had spent last summer with...

It was then that Edward had ceased communication with her.

Winry knew that Edward didn't RUN from her... that wasn't his style. She knew that one day he'd come back to her... BUT HE SURE WAS TAKING HIS GOD DAMN SWEET TIME.

BRING BRINGGGGG.

The sound of a telephone resonating through the house got Winry dashing (though carefully considering the mini Elric inside of her) and with anticipation, swiftly picked up the phone within the flick of a wrist. "Hello?" She spluttered into the phone without using the formal address her Granny Pinako had constantly tried to remind her about these days.

"Hi Miss Winry. It's Roy Mustang. I was wondering whether Fullmetal is at your place yet?"

"Eh—I mean, How do you do Brigadier General Mustang? Um... actually, I haven't heard from that idio—Edward Elric for quite a while so..."

"Well, being the decent man I am, I would like to inform you that pipsqueak Fullmetal has been roaming around Central for quite some time now AND WHAT IS THIS? HE HASN'T TOLD OR VISITED YOU YET? How shameless."

"..."

"Anyway, that is all. I hope you see him soon. Good bye Miss Winry, I hope you have a good day! –Beep. Beep. Beep."

Winry drew in a breath.
1... 2... 3...

At first glance, one may have assumed that she'd crack under her wrath and would proceed to getting her wrench ready for some serious business...
But as the girl looked up, there was tears rimming her eyes;

Cheeks tinged a rosy shade.

Winry placed the phone down quickly before proceeding to her room. She hastily threw on a coat and her everyday boots before darting out of the house to catch a cab to the train station... and then to Edward...
